I've never bought Vetements, and the only DG-era Balenciaga I've bought is reissue Nicolas Ghesquiere so I guess I will have to wait and see.
Feels very corporate play and also a teeny bit desperate to fast-track Gucci's comeback by betting on Demna’s ability to create viral fashion moments. Gucci’s aesthetic is way too far removed from Demna’s world, at least traditionally. Gucci was always about opulence, Italian glamour, and maximalism, while Demna is all about irony, dystopian fashion, and exaggerated proportions--things that don’t naturally align with Gucci’s past.
But then again, Balenciaga didn't look like that before Demna, either. Would be interesting to see Demna bring his ugly-core, oversized, post-apocalyptic, meme-heavy, inside-joke vision to a house that’s always been about sensuality and luxury.

I don’t have the youth, body type, or attitude to wear ironic clothing. Or a particular taste for Demna. So it’s a pass for me. It does feel like a corporate musical chairs to shake things up. Then again, im not sure about Mathieu Blazy for Chanel either.
Feels like Kering is eating itself at this point. A taste of things to come?

One thing I will always say for Martin Margeila and Rick owners and some of the other anti-fashion 'disrupters', their aesthetics have always been more inclusive than mainstream or high fashion.
Oh well, I've been shopping more in SLP anyway, maybe I'll get into the 'new' Balenciaga.

Balenciaga has some odd stuff some would say avant-garde. I don't believe that aligns with Gucci. He will certainly get people talking about Gucci.
