Ohhh pugs...you wouldn't believe the damage! I drove by it an hour ago, and the house is completely destroyed. The estimate of $1 million in damages is a HUGE under-estimate, I would guess. And all the photos of their kids, and other special memories...destroyed! You should see the melted Porche in the driveway...yikes!

Oh, I always feel terrible about the lost photos and family mementos that can't be replaced.

How about pets? There weren't any that perished were there?

Houses can be rebuilt, I would be devastated over the pictures and treasured heirlooms that were lost. :shucks:

One and only vice, huh? Don't tell me be believes that considering your recent H-related activities.:D

...guilty as charged, Lily. I was hoping you wouldn't notice that statement! That's why he uttered a very loud "HA!". H is a relatively new vice for me. But I have to admit, it has reached a rather fevered pitch of late. I see no end in sight.

Oh pugs....best job EVER!! Not only was there a huge clothes/shoes/accessories closet, but every month, our editor would give away all of the free cosmetics and perfumes sent to the magazine...it was like the running of the bulls in Spain as staff climbed over one another to grab at the Chanel!! And ooohhh the freebies...I miss the freebies!!! And it was incredibly fun when a stylist would come back from pulling items from the stores, so we'd see the clothing/shoes/accessories well before they got near the stores. So much fun. But an expensive job, as you were surrounded by beautiful things all day long, and the office was filled with enablers saying "OMG...that looks so good....you should get it!"

Oh the freebies!!!! I didn't think of that! I bet you were having such an amazing time :girlsigh:

I can't imagine. Just sounds too fabulous.

Lily and pugs...I totally agree....it's the lost photos and irreplaceable items that are devastating in a fire. Apparently, everyone was OK. But their son was in the house at the time, and someone got him out safe and sound. Didn't hear about any pets. Hope there weren't any living there.

The job was awesome, pugs. The pay was lousy though! I spent a long time working at various magazines, and it sure was for the love, and not the money! I quickly realized that I had almost nothing left after I paid our exceptionally well-paid nanny, so I quit so I could spend time with our girls.

Remember on SNL a looong time ago when Nora Dunn used to play Pat Stevens, the model-turned-talk show host, and she used to do leg lifts with the September Vogue balanced on top of her feet?

(stupid idiot man letting the house burn down - does the fire department send a bill marked "stupid" in big red letters across the top?)

Excellent post! LOL! All of it :hugs:

OMG my dream!!!! :cloud9::love::faint:

Someone tell me why exactly I got into architecture???? Please????

:lolots::lolots::lolots: I think you've hit the nail on the head, Lily!

Story of the day... does anyone remember the Olympic medal-winning figure skater, Kurt Browning?? Well the poor dear is in the proverbial dog-house with his wife today. They live in Toronto, just 2 minutes South of where we live. Poor Kurt thought it would be swell idea to use his leaf blower to dry off the soaking wet seats of his Porche 911.:nuts::nuts: He had left the silly thing out in a downpour yesterday. Soooo, the nutbar starts using the blower on the car seats, while the car is still parked in his garage, then decides to leave the garage with the leaf blower still on. You can all see where this leads...the damn car explodes, causes over a $1 million in damage to the house, totally gutting it, employing over 80 firefighters and 18 trucks for 9 hours!! Something tells me his Prima Ballerina wife Sonia Rodrigues is using her toe-shoes to kick his butt around the block!!

OMG. Um...

Ok, how stupid do you have to be? ....

OMG - how could such a great skater be so DUMB??? Lucky the boy got out, and I certainly hope there were no animals.
And of course all the personal treasures - probably including his medals among other things, are irreplaceable...dumb, dumb,
dumb!

Too many hard landings on the head?
Well, you don't have to be smart to be a good skater....
