Ok, I took a closer look at all LV wallets to figure out what could be an alternative for the Clemence in Fuchsia... And I think I've found a wallet that answers my needs! The NM Zippy Compact Wallet!
  • it has no fuchsia lining, so will go with every bag much easier
  • it doesn't have the leather zipper end, so no more worrying about wrecking it (which was an issue, but not a major one)
  • it is smaller, therefore more compact for smaller bags (and I usually go for smaller bags)
  • it is still a long wallet - I'm 100% sure I will be able to fit my bills flat (bills in my country are smaller than euros and dollars... I've just tested it and they a little bit shorter than iphone 6 and same height (but I've tested just one, and I know that two other ones might be a few mm larger... but I rarely carry any cash with me and when I do, I don't carry a lot of it)
  • it fits an iphone 6 with no problem, I've seen a picture of it on tPF
  • it actually has one more card slot (I've calculated I'd need around 8 everyday, but it's nice to have the extra room!)
  • it's not that much more expensive than clemence...

I know a lot of people hated it, but I think it's mostly because they loved the old style ZCW. The old style is not something I'd go for, because I just didn't like that flat and wide opening with all your cards on display, and this one I like a lot more!

I've also checked out the Sarah Compact Wallet, which I've found incredibly adorable, but it's slightly smaller (and I'm not sure I'll be able to fit my bills flat in it or the iphone 6), has less credit card slots and finally - it is a flap wallet and I'm still worried about leather cracking in the place where you fold it.

Well, it seems I'm back to my original issue: DE or Mono? Is mono wallet ok with DE bags? I'm a bit OCD and love having everything matchy-matchy, but then I just love the mono SLGs so much... :sad:

So now it's between the DE Clemence (which still is the one and only DE wallet I like) and ZCW NM in Monogram. Thoughts?

I can always replace the tiny vachetta pieces that are on SLGs (and I guess since it's so little leather, it won't cost a fortune if it ever bothered me too much). With black canvas there is nothing you can do, you're stuck... And ideally, I want to get SLGs and carry them everyday in my bags for like 15 years! :D



To be honest, Clemence in DE is the only DE wallet I actually like. All the other ones seem too "masculine" to me and DE Emilie and Josephine look like teenagers wallets (no idea why I feel that way, I just do). But I loved the red leather pull in DE, I've thought it gave it a feminine touch. With monogram, I just feel like it's a bit too much... And it's still a very beautiful wallet, I just wish it wouldn't have a colorful lining, I'd rather get something more neutral.

Go for the DE clemence :) it sounds like you'd like it better. I completely agree that there should be a neutral clemence!! I don't get why there isn't :(

Yes, between DE Clemence and Monogram Clemence in Fuchsia, I prefer DE Clemence. BUT, I did found a neutral Clemence - Zippy Compact Wallet New Model - it's very similar, but shorter and has one more card slot. Of course for people who live in countries with longer bills, these two aren't comparable, but for me (I'm sure I will be able to put my bills flat in it) it is a very compact and practical choice... So back to the DE vs Mono now! :p

Go with the monogram in ZCW NM. ;)

Your thread has been interesting to read. I have a monogram Sarah, monogram Clemence in RB (love that little leather tab - it's remained pristine for me despite heavy use), multicolore Insolite, and empreinte noir Compact Curieuse. I feel they're all easy to use and I enjoy seeing monogram slgs together. The ZCW NM sounds like a good choice and it's similar to the Clemence.

From my understanding I think the color transfer was more so for lighter leathers/canvas like white MC, azur, or lighter vernis. Objects that were already prone for color transfer.

Hi litchi, you have a great wallet collection. compared to them all how are you liking the emp Compact Curieuse I cant decide between the noir or cerise

Thanks, tua! The Compact Curieuse is my wallet for smaller purses so I bring it when I want to go light. I love the leather and find it easy to use (I put extra cards in the zipper compartment). I chose noir because I have other items in noir. But both cerise and noir are beautiful colours. :)

On your original question, I think you should just get the print you like :) after all, your slgs will be inside your purse. I'm partial to LV monogram myself so my slgs are in this print. I have a few in DA but sometimes I wonder if I should've just gotten everything in monogram.

If you can visit a boutique, maybe you can request to see the mono ZCW, poch clefs, mini pochette, and agenda together, next to your DE purse. Or ask to see a mix of prints? It could give you a better idea on prospective purchases. :) Try an off-peak time when there's less people shopping so you and the SA won't feel rushed.

And I think you're right, I'm really into ZWC NM now. I feel somehow that Clemence DE was a compromise, like I had to get it in that print, just because my bags were in it. But ZWC NM just feels like a lovely and very practical wallet on it's own and it takes my breath away! Although now I'm starting to have a compulsion to get a monogram bag... :p

when I first got into LV I was so attracted to the DE that I want it everything in this print..Now I love Mono just a lil bit more..Although I love Mono and DE bags almost equally, I prefer all my SLGs to be in mono or leather..my first LV SLGs that I have gotten in DE I so wished I would had picked mono.
