Yes, the hammered part is partially matte and shiny. It is matte in the flat areas and shiny in the raised areas. Overall, they still reflect light well and sparkle beautifully so I would not worry about it not being sparkly enough. It gives off a subtle sparkle unlike the guilloche which is super sparkly. It really depends on what look you are going for.
Glad to hear that, thank you! I was worried the entire motif was primarily matte and doesn’t shine or shimmer in the light. Is the back side of the pendant the same as the front?

Update: here is a close up picture of the sweet alhambra hammered necklace. Up close it does look more matte. However, in real life when worn, the necklace tends to hit the light or sunlight causing it to sparkle and reflect beautifully. The beaded frame of the alhambra motif and chain also adds to the overall sparkle. It is a very dainty yet impactful necklace.

Thanks vivilisa! I saw in another thread you were considering the WG sweet pave pendant. Did you ever add that to your collection? I tried on the pave studs and loved them so I was thinking of getting the necklace. Hammered RG sweet or WG pave sweet?

I ended up not getting the WG sweet pave because I already have the RG sweet hammered. I am saving to get the YG vintage pave instead as I personally think the pave looks better in vintage size. The diamonds stand out much more in the vintage and I could not justify the price of the sweet pave for its tiny diamonds. Both are beautiful but I just think the vintage one looks more substantial and sparkly.

@ChanellenahC which necklace did you end up purchasing, if you don’t mind sharing? Always curious to see what people end up with as all VCA pieces are beautiful.

Hi! I ended up getting the RG hammered necklace! Thanks for your help in that decision. ;) The chain is so sparkly and the motif really does shimmer so nicely in the light. I might get the chain extended though so I can wear it at a longer length if layering. Did you extend yours?

Also, how has your pendant held up so far? I remember you saying you were wearing it 24/7. I heard someone say that hammered pieces become dull quickly and have to be cleaned often to bring back the shine. Do you find that to be true? How do you clean yours?

Excellent choice! Is it the sweet or vintage size? I did not extend my necklace as I like the original length. I am still using my necklace 24/7 even when showering and have not noticed any dullness. Still as shiny as ever. Every 2 weeks, I just simply take my necklace off and rinse it with clean water and mild soap and then gently pat dry with a soft cloth.

Sweet size! Unpopular opinion but with alhambra pieces, I seem to prefer the sweet over the vintage size. Good to hear that your necklace is doing well even with 24/7 wear!

The necklace looks fine on me at the original length of 15.75” but I wish it was just a tiny smidge longer. 16” would be perfect for me haha.

Are you still planning to get the vintage pave? It’s beautiful. I’m planning to get a MOP pendant. Trying to decide between the sweet or the plum blossom.

I am still planning to get the vintage pave but am not in a rush. Waiting for a special occasion to get it. I personally prefer the sweet mop alhambra over the plum blossom as I think it is more versatile for daily use and long term use.
