I read about the bank hack but banks are aware of those those hacks before the media get wind of it and in most cases the hacks are inside jobs, in addition to that it was nowhere near as big job as the Target data breach. Also affected only certain bank
with the Target data breach my bank sent new debit cards before hackers could even tap into accounts, my card was literally on a website waiting to be purchased my bank found it sent me a new card I had no issues money can easily be recouped
this is however an issue of privacy, a violation of ones most vulnerable moments, your bank can easily replace stolen money but you can not replace dignity once your nudes are released for the world to see

Hmm, I posted a thread in the "Up to the Minute" section last week about Russian hackers who stole account information from US banks and that thread didn't get any comments.

There have been a number of threads on hacking in General Discussion, Up To The Minute and Money Talks. There's a new story in the news today about Home Depot.

Few of them get interest. They're just not as titillating (pardon the pun).

People have lost their focus on what's important. Look at the post counts on the Kardasithreads and the whole Celebrity board versus the real news threads about stories that matter.

So, hacking account numbers and addresses of various people is more titilating than nude photos being leaked? Really?
I mean, the fact that this forum gets like 4-5 times more traffic than the ones you listed has nothing to do with it.

Or cause people probably don't like going into forums where they're told they don't know what's important in life. Evidently cause these people are celebs, their violations of privacy don't count. Got it.
Honestly, I don't go onto Up to the Minute for this reason. I can assess new like that when listening to NPR on the way home and skip the "it's not the good ole days", "The government is out to get you" "Our country is going to the $hitter" "No one cares about anything anymore" condescending commentaries.

^ Don't worry it's not you :) ... I doubt people are really offended or I think they're just trying to make a point about prior comments on this story.

Not to throw shade on the purse forum but it IS primarily a fashion forum with celebrity being a big part of fashion. I go post on other forums for non fashion + celebrity related news. I assume others are the same way.

If you've ever posted on those types of news forums or political related forums you would know the activity on those rivals or exceeds the discussion on the PF celebrity news section.

I'm a little surprised more people are concerned about celebrity nude photos than about the possibility of their bank accounts being compromised. :thinkin:

No, you can't compare the two issues. It's like when I get all these people on my Facebook protesting the celebration of the World Cup 2014 while there was a war in Syria.

My point is, you can't tell anyone what should be more important to them or what should be more interesting to talk about. If you don't like it you can always choose not to participate in it.

Where did I tell anyone what they should be interested in? I said I was surprised at the interest. And I'll participate where I like.
