Apple doing major damage control trying to minimize the notion that their iCloud software is vulnerable by saying that they don't know how it happened... Just own up to the fact that your software security was compromised and that everyone of your customers, not just these celebrities probably has their iCloud data being shopped around in the underworld...

It wouldn't surprise me if regular people have their nudes all over the internet and they just don't know it. You should all check 4chan regularly:p

Yep. It's silly that everyone seems to think that only celebrity accounts are being hacked. The reason you don't know about the rest of them is because it's not newsworthy.

Also, every time someone says "I'd never take nude pictures of myself" or "I'd never store something in the cloud" or "I'm always careful with everything!" all I can think of is
OHHHHH, GOOOOODDDDD FOR YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
in Christian Bale's voice.

Jill Scott's pics just hit the net,

And people are f*cking body shaming her. Totally missing the point AGAIN that no-one, not me, you or anyone was supposed to see these photos.

These poor women. I'd be mortified. I don't care how famous you are - I hope they're getting support from family and friends and they find these creeps.

Yeah totally agree, it's like your judged with clothes on and without and without clothes you feel violated because it's an invasion of privacy if you didn't release the pics yourself. She replied and said one of the pics was actually her as a weight loss progression pic, there's a 2nd pic that looks an awful lot like her but she says isn't her.

:laugh:... people are like that with everything to varying degrees, I think it gives everyone a sense that they can control things in a chaotic universe.

A few years ago while I was stopped at an intersection (in a fairly dangerous area) some guy smashed my closed window (my car doors were locked) with a crowbar hitting me in the chest. It happened really quickly but as he started to reach into the car I luckily managed to get my car into gear, reversed the car and was able to get away.

The crowbar cracked my sternum and took forever to heal but I was really proud of myself that I was able to get away. Afterwards people were telling me how lucky I was etc. and of course there were the people that were like... "I never go through that area it's way too dangerous", "I'm always careful about that kind of thing", "I always look around me when I'm at a stop street"... And I was like... "Dude, no you f**king don't, not all the time besides I was careful and even when you're careful sh*t, f**king happens" ... I wish I could have said it in a Christian Bale voice.

I want to know how easy it really is and how much time it takes. Even if you know the celebrity's name you still need to search for the right account. I'd imagine there's more than one Jennifer Lawrence in the world.

Did they have to search the database for those names or did they get a tip-off from someone who knew someone, who someone who knew the celebrity in question.

Obviously you've reduced the field considerably if you search for specific names but it still seems like it would take a looooong time.

Don't know if I'm understanding you correctly but what advantage would working at Apple give someone? Even if they worked for Apple wouldn't they still need to sift through an awful lot of accounts until they found what they were looking for?

It's not terribly surprising they targeted JLaw because she's so high profile but a lot of the celebs on the list I'd never heard of before.

I meant for a hacker who is not working for Apple, he would have to hack all celebrities iClouds to see who has naked pics, but if he works at Apple he doesn't even have to hack everyone's iClouds. He probably just sits there and has access to all the pictures of his fave celebrities and sort them. Hacking is also a lot of work, you know. Most hackers won't hack unless they gain some profits from it.
