I've been lurking for awhile and finally joined. I have been eyeballing a custom Longchamp for awhile - the hard part is picking the colors! I love the idea of a red center stripe but I'm torn between black, graphite, and taupe for the other. I'm looking at the size 1 with short handles - I like hand carrying and the small short handle is too small and the medium is too large for me.

Although I am not too happy about the shipping fee, getting what I want and having a unique bag is definitely a selling point.

We're planning a trip to Italy and when trying to decide what handbag to pack, I realized that all of my bags which zip are hand held (not too comfortable for travel) and all of my totes have open tops (not a good idea with pick pockets roaming the streets), so today I ordered a custom Le Pliage to take with me. I too had a hard time deciding on the color combination and had hoped to find more examples on TPF. As much as I love the bright colors for contrast, like red or purple, I decided that neutrals would be best since I'll be using the same bag for the whole trip and it needs to coordinate with all of my clothing. I finally decided on taupe as the main color and chocolate for the stripe with gold hardware. I'm also having my initials embossed on the leather flap. I can't wait to get it and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I like it since it can't be returned. I will post pics when I get it.

I too have been looking at one - especially for travel. Like Cadence73, I like the taupe with the red stripe, or taupe looks good with any bright pop of color in the middle. I'd vote for neutral body and bright center!

Does anyone like the look of the main part pink and the middle stripe red with long handles and silver H/W? I'm needing one basically for a carry-on and I am bringing hot pink luggage (girly-girl :D) I want it to be matching to an extent so I think I want the body to be pink for sure. I never would've considered this color combo except this is just the combo the website provided as an example. I like how it is bright, especially because I would never normally carry something so bright and large to wear normally, but since I'm going to use it as a carry-on I figure why not? Any opinions???

P.s. I already have the standard black one, so that option is out for me!

I've finally decided to order a custom Size 2 from the web, then I found out that there is USD50 delivery charge, since it's made in France and will be shipped from France!

I read from other thread that some one received her custom bag in 12 days, though the web site stated 3 weeks delivery time.

I wonder if this is one-off case, or most who ordered got it in shorter time?

I think I've ordered from the custom site 4 or 5 different times, and all three times I received my bags in less than the 3 weeks stated on the site. It might depend on time of year...they may have fewer people working at some times of year than at others.

I hope you love the bag when you get it! I have one in the size 2 and it's perfect for an everyday handbag. We want to see pics when you have it! :graucho:

Hello,

I'm thinking of purchasing my first longchamp bag and wondered if anyone could tell me if it is possible to add a shoulder strap to a medium le pliage bag and if so how much it would cost?

MissDee

has anyone ever chosen the same colour for main and stripe colour? if you choose the same colour on the onlineshop, the animation there shows that there are still white stiches visible, does this apply to the real bag too or is it just a "mistake" on the onlineshop?
i'm actually just interested in the embossing on the backflap and would prefer a one coloured bag! the visible stitches would bother me though!! so any suggestions as to what stripe colour would look good with "bilberry" as main colour would be appreciated too!

TIA!

I just ordered my first Longchamp Le Pliage last night and I chose praline for both the stripe and main color. I will post pics when it arrives. I would like to also order a Large LH graphite and a Large MH white Le Pliage, but I am waiting to see what they come out with in the spring. I heard that they will have new Le Pliage bags that are made of a thin leather (as opposed to the nylon).

Can't wait to see pics! Where did you find the praline? I wanted to order one for an upcoming cruise and I can't find it anywhere!

I am getting one of the customize le pliage and Singapore is having a one time thing where we can customize in store And save on those insane shipping charge but I learnt from the boutique staff the following which left totally confuse but I still bought it..

1) le pliage is not waterproof?!
2) it is NOT meant to carry heavy stuff which includes toiletries, laptop, books, shoes. In fact she only encourage me to put closthes like tshirt and stuff ?
3) u cannot wash it in a washing machine?

I mean it is the total opposite of what I thought it be.. Though I still end up getting size 4 ( last day of customization service) but I was hoping fellow tpf could shed some lights ? Darn.. Got to wait 6-8 weeks for the bag.

It may not be completely waterproof if you submerge it in water (I'm sure the zipper area would leak a tiny bit) but the nylon certainly keeps my stuff dry in a rainstorm.

She is probably warning you against overloading it, but you can certainly carry over 20 lbs in it.

3) u cannot wash it in a washing machine?

This has never been recommended by Longchamp, but many of us on the Purse Forum wash ours in the washing machine.

I hope you get one. I love my customized bags.
