I love your look!!

OP, I love my Antigona- mine is a Small tho (I originally got Medium but it was way too big on my frame.) I didn't "get" SDJ when it first came out, but it's def grown on me! IMO younger, edgier style would work better w/ Antigona whereas more formal style would w/ SDJ. Both are beautiful bags & you can't go wrong! Try them on and go with what sings to you.

Thank you, skimilk~

I do think that is true of both bags, I want my Antigona to be the more casual, 'goes-with-anything' bag and the SDJ to be a more formal, pop of color bag :) You can find my photos up there!

BTW, OP I was curious if your father likes your bags now that you have them....

Haha, interesting question and yes there is an update. My father (and most people I know actually) seem to not like the Antigona's shape! They say it's an oversized old doctor's bag! lol. :roflmfao:

But the SDJ is more of a hit, my father did admit he liked the feel of the leather of the bag and the build of it. The color is also popular, one friend said they did not like it since it was a dull red, but I know it's right for me because it's a very vintage red, which is my style.

Though not any of their words sway me- I love both my bags so much. :D

Glad to hear you are enjoying your first two bags. Here's to many more great bags coming your way.

By the way, off topic, but are the shoes in your photos Manolos by any chance?

Thank you Kyokei, cheers to that!
Oh, was it that obvious? Yes, they used to be my grandmother's!

That's funny about the Doctor Bag comments. I agree with that, but there are many that are even more exaggerated looking and I hate them. But for some reason while the Antigona has that look about it I just think it is so cool. It doesn't bother me at all on that bag.

I think the red on the SdJ you chose is just gorgeous. You are very fortunate to have it within your means to have these for your first two bags and to have a luxury bag in a bright color like that. I would be afraid I wouldn't use it enough. But if I could afford two at once.... I would do exactly as you did!

And thanks for the update on your Dad. I figured he would develop at least a small appreciation for them once he saw them for himself. Usually men will enjoy a quality construction and design once they see it, even if they can't "get into" purses. LOL.

I did chuckle with those comments too :) I don't know, I just am in love with the Antigona's shape, even if it resemble an old doctor's bag! True.

Thank you! I'm glad somebody does like the colour. Oh no, I did plan to just get one, which is a present for me, but I decided to buy another myself. I can't stand the idea of having just one premier bag since I know I will use it all the time and did not want it to wear out because of that. I wanted a second so I have something to switch between (as fussy as that sounds!)

I think that is what happened with him lol. He does like the SDJ better than the Antigona. He told me the Antigona reminded him of his professor's bags from medical school haha!

Hello all!

I am MsVinci, and am quite new to bags actually. I am in my 20s and has just recently formed an interest in premier/luxury bags :)

For most of my life I have bought simple, no-name bags and though I have had a couple of really sturdy ones I end up mostly ruining them- I am very careless and just have a mix of bad luck with them is all. I have heard of premier bags and many of the designs have just intrigued me and the promise of better quality (or at least a warranty/guarantee) has really drawn me in!

I am thinking of purchasing a red Sac De Jour in small from Saint Laurent and a black Givenchy Antigona Medium Bag. My aesthetic is mainly bags that can carry a lot but are not too big and bags that are very shaped and classic.

I am reading through both threads for bags now as well! Anyone have any opinions on those two bags being my entry premier bags? :)
Well welcome to AA for purseaholics! Let me say one little piece of advice. I'd start with a slightly cheaper brand of designer if you aren't sure of your habits. I'd much rather learn my lessons on a $$$ bag than a $$$$ bag. Just my opinion. I had some "oops" moments early in my days of collecting that would have brought me to tears had I had more expensive bags at the time.

Thanks for the advice! Though sadly it's a bit late for me now, I already have them both and returning them would be a big bother :( What are some of the oops moments? Maybe I can avoid them?

Popping by this thread again for a moment.

I also started with Givenchy and Saint Laurent and still use those a lot but now also buy from Chanel and Hermes etc. I went from cheap no name brands (not contemporary) to premier and have no regrets but I think at first you'll see a lot that you love that you want but might not work for you. As you buy and see more and more, you'll hone in on your style and, more importantly, what you actually use.

One of my first bags was very much a going out at night bag. It's one of my least used but I bought it knowing that it would fill a certain "niche". I think if I would have bought all of the bags I had my eye on when I first started out, I would regret a few of them, especially since nowadays I'd rather save for the ones I really want rather than having more.

Well, it's tAkes a bit sometimes to figure out what style actually works for you.
For example, I ADORE structured handle carry bags.
I never end up using them for more than a ladies lunch.
I won't set them down just anywhere, I refuse to put them in a shopping cart and sometimes ladies rooms don't have a shelf. So they sit in the closet.
I use a shoulder bag mainly. But if it weighs more than 5 pounds, it hurts my shoulder, so those sat in the closet.
I think the best advice is, spend money on the bags that fit your actual lifestyle and skip the rest.

Congrats, two beautiful bags that I think will become modern classics! I too think you won't regret buying both, The red is gorgeous, btw.

Thank you, soramillay! I'm glad someone else also likes my taste in red :) I think that is my taste exactly, modern classic, I dress that way too.

Great advice, Kyokei and I will definitely keep that in mind when I buy more bags in the future. Probably not being too impulsive would work well for me and just a bit of time and consideration. I also bought my two bags now in consideration of the colours and style of my wardrobe. I am very modern vintage so that's it for now!

Thank you for the tips, I have already been babying my bags like crazy! I do tend to shop a bit and also have lunches with friends often, so it is a good fit, though for more active outings I use the straps. The Antigona's strap is so useful for when I'm grocery shopping!

It's lucky for us there are gorgeous bags in every color and style!
The thrill of the hunt.

U chose well. I have a few handbags. No major regrets.... except maybe a miu miu aviator hobo bag. Total impulse buy. All purchases r now better thought out. I don't think u will feel like that as u spent some time considering what role each would have in ur closet. Enjoy ur new bags.

I will try to avoid complete impulse buys! Thank you very much :)
