Crossbody bags on plus size women?

Does anyone here who is plus size carry their bags cross body? I don't have any crossbody bags, but I'm nervous about buying one. I WANT a crossbody bag(duffle or isabelle probably), but I want to be able to wear it crossbody. I'm a size 20/22, and I also am pretty big chested. So I'm worried I won't be able to wear the bags crossbody like I want. I'm nervous to try one on crossbody in the story because what if I try to put it on and it won't fit? That would be so embarassing! So is anyone here a larger girl who wears cross body bags? How do they fit? TIA!

I am around your size too and I know what it is like to have a bag / strap that doesn't fit :(. The duffles are ridiculous on me cross-body since there is no way to lengthen those straps :(. They go across me, but they sit WAY too high on my hip and dig into my neck. The Madison bags are much better for me because I can lengthen their straps with the dog-leash style clips (I don't get the ones with leather from Coach since those are way over-priced). I need at least a 24-inch drop (48-inch full length) strap to feel comfortable.

Love them all, but the duffle looks AWESOME on you !!!

I get what you're saying about them cutting across the chest! That's one concern, because of the way seatbelts sit across my chest, i could see that being an issue. I'm definitely going to have to try some on in the story. I feel more confident I won't embarass myself now though!

That is a good idea thank you! I would appreciate that :)

Thanks for the tip!

Thank you! Which bags do you have? So I can get an idea of what works for other people. I mainly want them for when I'm shopping and my bag is constantly slipping off my shoulder.

I have legacy dufflels lindsey, alexandra, hampton tote, those are the main ones. I wear them mainly with the strap on my shoulder, and crossbody when shopping.

You can always ask a SA to model it too. At my store they always put it on so you can see how it looks on someone else. Maybe the store has someone with a similar shape? I had the same concern when shopping crossbody and told them and a full figured SA modeled the Willis I was looking at.

I don't find cross body bags look that great or fit that well on me personally, but I see many who look great in them! I think it's really a personal decision. I do know however whether or not a bag will fit well cross body by looking at the length of the strap on the longest setting. It's good to know there are extenders available :).

I think in a lot of cases, it's not what size you are, but height can be the culprit. I'm 5'7" and some crossbody bags look silly on me because of where they sit, but on a shorter woman, look really good.

Emily, you are rocking all those looks!

Emily you have a great fashion sense! Where'd you get the palazzos in the 4th pic? I've been looking for a no nonsense palazzo like that.

Thank you!
You'll laugh, but I've had those pants for soooo many years. I got them forever ago at Lane Bryant, and I bought them in petite so I could wear them with flats or sandals (since most of my pants are long and I have to wear heels with them). I love them and have even had the zipper replaced twice! They're a heavy material and excellent quality. Love the way they drape. I'll never part with them, they're a definite staple!

Although Coach does carry a decent selection of crossbody bags it is a little far from perfect. Many feel too short or uncomfortable (I'm looking at you Isabelle). The most success I've found is with the Hailey bags, although the duffles are not that bad (I have one in UV). The duffle bag strap does dig into my neck from time to time for me too, and it sits a bit high on the hip (I'm 5'5"). Another good choice, and if you're willing to go a bit smaller, is the Willis. Although I do have to economize my belongs in order to fit the things I need into it, it's a comfy crossbody on me.
