croc 18cm Constance---good idea or not?

I have a KP amethyst croc, and a 18cm Constance in Lizard Natura Ombré.
I love my KP but won't have another one.
I've ordered another Constance 18cm in croc (I have my name on a Bleu Roi, and a Vert Emeraude...will have to choose when they arrive), I find it more practical for some events when you need to hold a Coupe de Champagne ;)...
and it can also work with jeans and flats .

Hi fromparis, how are you doing? I think your direct experience could help me please...
I am dying for lizard natura ombré, and I am thinking about a bag or pochette.
I was wondering, does your Constance 18cm fit as much as the Kelly pochette? If it is not the same what is the difference?
I am trying to decide what I should get.
Do you know from fsh if it is possible to have a constance in Lizard natura ombré also in the 23cm size or do they only give you the possibility to get it in 18?
Thank you!

Hi Trama :smile1: !
I think the 18cm Constance fit as much as the KP (if you don't overstuff the KP of course...and you can't do that with the Constance structure).
My things in the Constance are more organized than in the KP (but it is not a problem in the end, since you can't carry a lot, you are always able to find them easily).
When my SA offered me the 18 it was love at first sight. I have a constance in 23, there is not a lot of difference in contenance, and to be honest I prefer the "precious" proportion of the 18...That's why next will be a 18 too.
But I think it could be possible to have a 23 Constance by SO : since it's smaller than Birkin 25/30 why not ?

There is nothing more annoying at a cocktail party than having to stuff your bag into your elbow to manage a drink and then if someone offers you a delicious little bite to eat it is sooo difficult. If you go to cocktail or drinks parties, gallery openings, or any events where you have to stand up and eat or drink then, trust me, you will be glad you have the Constance. Jewel croc sounds divine.

Just my opinion anyway based on my experience. By the way I also like a 25cm Kelly for these kind of events.

I love KPs but I totally agree with Bababebi here about having your hands free in certain situations. I too love the Kelly 25 for this purpose.

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if you would weigh in on my question---how versatile or not would a croc 18 (mini) Constance be, particularly in a jewel tone? I just obtained my first mini Constance in a neutral non-exotic leather, and therefore am not yet sure how much I would love a croc one.

But, do any of you have one? How do you use this bag? If you don't have one, would you want one, and why? What would be the pros and cons of a jewel toned croc Constance vs. a jewel toned croc KP?

Thanks in advance!

Kipp, sorry for highjacking your thread with my question to Fromparis.

For what is regarding your question, I share what many members have already said: with all your neutral wardrobe a jewel tone croc constance would be amazing. I also think that it is a more wearable bag than the KP, especially if you don't have many super formal occasions. I find the KP to be a bit more formal, even if you can still put it down with jeans and similar outfits.
Maybe since you already have another Constance you could postpone your purchase, until you have acquainted a bit more with it so that you know if it really is the bag that you want?

fromparis, thank you very much for your opinion, food for thoughts:graucho:

trama turgo --- I didn't think you had hijacked this thread! It is great for the discussion to go in several directions IMO! I'm enjoying and learning from it all.

Hello! ‘Old thread’ but timeless questions! Im venturing into croc/ alligator and love the shiny ones. Wondering for a Constance 18 shiny croc or alligator, as it is so much under the arm, will natural moisture from our skin damage the leather?

I love my C18s for the strap and they are really great for events and cocktails. It’s super clumsy using a clutch under the arm (makes my arms even bigger!)

As much as a shiny croc Kp is divine, I’m having a rethink. I think I won’t dare to put a croc kp under the arm when I need to..

Reviving this thread - I did not have it in my personal or boutique wishlist but stumbled about a preloved C18 in alligator in a gorgeous shade of green, good preloved condition. Reasonably priced for what it is and under retail, but it would still be the most expensive bag in my collection and the first alligator. I just fell in love with the bag but thinking about how much I would use it, given my „on the go“ live style which involves being outside in different (sometimes wet) weather, walking in the city and not babying the bag. Probably I would use it as a small cross-body for day time but also as a substitute for a clutch at night.

Black might be of course an easier fit with everything, but I just love the green colour with GHW look…

Any thoughts, given that i don’t want to get a closet full of bags without frequent use?

Edit: The bag would be totally my style and fit to my wardrobe so my question is rather about the potential frequency of use and the user friendliness of the leather in this bag type. Or any other thoughts you might have ☺️

it depends on the colour - gorgeous shade of green - could mean anything

if you love it and know you can use it a lot
all the other concerns fade away

i would share your frequency of use concern;
only you know the answer to that.
Gator and croc are expensive, therefore people are more conscious of taking care with them.
I have written before that they are not delicate skins in themselves - just look at all the vintage bags and luggage that is around.

Thank you for your thoughts ☺️ @WhiteBus!

I found the bag in real live / shop and could not take a picture, the green is a darker green with yellow /brown undertones that creates a beautiful pattern and depth to the leather as the space between the scales is a quite a lighter that the scales themselves. Not malachite, vert Roseau, vert comics, vert fonce, vert verone, vert anis type of green. A bit like vert olive but less cool. I have not seen the green before, bag is from 2015. or maybe I do not recognise it because it comes out differently in alligator. Probably this does not help much 😂 either …..

It is shiny alligator.

I would hate to ruin such a beautiful piece with my way of using it but at the same time I could not stand not to use it. Do you think a few waterdrops here and there would build up a kind of patina over time with intermittent visits to Spa or would I rather end up with a bag that looks spotty all over? I mean, it is a small bag, so I should fit under an umbrella or my coat for protection, if I get caught in rain. I seem to be enabling myself 😂
