You mean the new bag you ordered from the relaunch a few weeks ago already came in cracked? Honestly at this point I'd rather get them from bergdorf/barneys/other dept stores. MS customer service isn't even reliable and their quality is clearly going downhill...

Yup! It came cracked in the back. I can't even return in. It's the mini mini camello, so it's not the most expensive there is but I'm done now with the brand. Very disappointing. Pretty big crack too...

You should still send them an email and complain... Attach the photos, and point out how they claimed high quality on the website but that's not true at all in reality. Worst case, you can file a complaint on BBB (better business bureau).

They also never replied when I will be getting my bucket back after I sent them to repair it...lol

How long has it been back with MG for the repair?

I am completely agreeing with the sentiment here... I, too, just bought my last MG bag. I purchased the backpack in pebbled leather. I wanted the slouch of pebbled leather for this bag, and I understood that there would be an "airing out" period because the pebbled leather is so, so stinky when you get it... seriously, overwhelmingly stinky... but I was prepared. I had set up my guest room with an ionizer and a fan. After three days, there was still a strong leather smell, but it was not knock-you-out overwhelming an longer.

So I opened the top flap to pull out the stuffing and put my things in, and I noticed that the glaze was cracked through all around the top of the bag. This is a bag that has NEVER been used. It has been sitting untouched in my guest room for three days. Argh!

So I took pictures and sent them to MG. This was the response:

"Thank you for reaching out to us and for providing photos for us! This is normal wear for our Tumble leather edging and we do not view this as a damage or a defect. Our edges are hand painted and will crack with use, as the bag is constantly being adjusted open and shut. Because this leather is unstructured, the edges tend to wear faster than our other leather types, although each bag is prone to wear here. Please note, our handbags are under a one year warranty if there are any issues in the future with the paint chipping, but we haven't seen this is happen as of yet.

Any leather repair shop can repaint over these edges, if you were ever interested in refreshing the paint. If this is area is every repainted, the edges will still eventually crack with use.

We hope this information helps and please let us know if you have any further questions."

I responded that the bag had never been worn. There is not "wear" on this bag. It is frankly shocking to me that a company would send a bag in need of repair to a customer and assume that it is the customers responsibility to repair the bag. What the heck? I said that I was astounded that they accept this level of shoddy quality as "normal". And I didn't even mention that the glaze, in general, looks like it was applied by a pack of drunk monkeys. It is all wobbly and spills over onto the leather surface of the bag in multiple places... I noticed that right away before the airing out, but I just assumed that the application was heavy-handed... but taken together with the cracking and general apathy from customer service... Honestly, there is better quality and attention to detail just about everywhere... I can't believe that this brand is thriving. Who is buying this junk?

I'm not really impressed with the quality. The leather on the back of my bucket is not as good quality as the front. It looks different, scratches more easily and stains more easily. It is odd because it is the side facing inwards and therefore by theory 'protected'. I even tried threading the cord in the other way and wearing it backwards but it still wears faster than the front.

If it arrived "damaged" you can absolutely return it!

I bought a bucket from mg's online store and it arrived scratched.

I emailed customer service (along with pix) and they agreed with my assessment that it was damaged and took it back and credited me back no problem.

Hope it works out for you!

image.jpeg I just received my first MG patent bag, Large Sun Bag in Blush, and it arrived with ink transfer from the air cushions they use for packing on the interior pocket. What is weird is that there were no air cushions inside the bag when I opened it. Someone must have removed the air cushion and, unless they did so in the dark, had to have seen the ink transfer and shipped the bag out anyway. I have emailed customer service and hoping they will resolve the issue. FedEx lost the bag for a couple of days so I hope MG doesn't try to blame it on that. I am starting to wonder if I am supposed to have this bag after it was lost in transit and now damaged upon receiving.

I think you'll be fine...my experience with their customer service was actually really good.

As a side note, how is the quality of the patent leather? I am considering a mini bucket in the patent.

I am glad to hear someone has had a positive experience with their customer service! I think the patent looks really nice, there are a couple of places that are wrinkled (attached pics) but they are in places that I would expect wrinkles so it doesn't bother me. I love how light weight their bags are!

Thanks for posting the pix and the comments about the patent leather.

I have the same cracking problem... My bag is a Mini Mini Bucket, in black with the fucsia pink interior. I got it in summer and wore it a fair deal, but took quite a bit of care as it scratches so easily. The leather has hold up well, but the border has cracked. I don't know it would be any good to go to a shoeamaker, as the most color is lost on the pink side, which I guess is more difficult to repair. I find this very disappointing as one of the things about such a simple bag is that contrast between the outside and the inside, which now looks frankly ugly. I bought mine in NAP. Would it make any sense to complain?

I have a black veg tanned regular bucket, and just noticed that there is cracking along the edges where the glazing is - but honestly, it doesn't bother me. I've had my bag for over a year now and it has been my go-to bag; I don't baby it, and it's still held up quite well. The cracked glazing isn't even that noticeable unless you're really scrutinizing the bag. I love MG and would still buy their products. I just know that down the line, with use, the edges may be prone to cracking. Another thing too is that they're still a fairly new brand, so maybe in the future as they become more aware of the issue, they will change the glazing so it won't be as prone to cracking.

Does this cracking only happen to veg tan leather or it can also happen to calf leather? I want to add a few more buckets to my collection but really hesitate after reading these posts? :(
