I've put my bag through worse and it still hasn't cracked like that. The long strap can look worn but the cracking on the top of the bag shouldn't look like that. Did you send them pics??

It's a shame this has happened but I can't imagine their all over quality being "just ****" when there are only two cases on here so far out of everyone who owns them...

My bag and the other in this tread with the same problem are more recently produced. Perhaps their quality and expectations are being adjusted as more bags are produced.

Their customer service department told me this is to be expected so it is up to each person to decide if the quality is "just ****" - not my choice of words. No where on the website does this appear to be the expectation, scratches yes, cracking no.

I have found cracks on other bags when I looked at used bags online, so there are more than 2. When I purchased, there were not many used bags to look at to see how they were holding up.

My issue is that if cracking (which bothers me more than how the leather patinas since I can easily apply conditioner to my bag) is normal and expected, I would have liked to know before I purchased. I assumed the warranty would apply since this was not addressed when they describe the characteristics of the veg tanned leather.

I do not live in an area where there are shoe repair specialists to do the repair. I am in a rural area. I am also concerned with leaving a $600 bag with someone I have no experience with. I am stuck with this reality which will probably result in an hour plus drive to drop it off and another hour plus drive to pick it up and anxiety over the quality of the repair just to find someone with enough reviews that I am comfortable. If the repair is sloppy I will not want the bag with the light interior since any sloppiness will be visible. My other option is to explore DIY with edge coating materials. Neither of these options appeal to me for a bag that was babied and rarely used and only a few months old.

They did not ask for pictures, just said it was to be expected. I need to reach out again and ask for someone higher up to assess the situation. I am assuming since it is to be expected, I am not the first person who raised the question and this is the standard answer. It just keeps getting worse each time I use it.

How long have you had the bag for? Is it outside their 1 year warranty?

I purchased the bag in fall of this year. It is within a one year warranty period. I probably waited a month to start using it and it has only been used occasionally. I change out my bags a lot.

Yes it seems you got a defective one and they are not admitting that. I never said you didn't. And my post was in reply to the one above it. I was pointing out to that poster (who did use that choice of words) that I don't believe the brand in general is bad quality because only two people (so far) have reported a similar issue out of the many that own them (some have had them for years, others since last launch and many of us own several from over a few years). You will get defective bags and items from all categories, brands etc doesn't always mean the entire brand is bad quality, bad customer service and bad quality are two different things. I'd definitely be contacting them again and send pics, insist they look.

But again my post you quoted was responding to the other poster not you specifically.

Sorry I attributed my response to you and not the other post about quality.

I do think the leather and design of the bag I purchased are beautiful. I am just disappointed with the response I received. Had the initial response been more encouraging, I would have been getting 2 more buckets.

I reached out again and hopefully I will receive a more favorable response.

I also reached out to their customer service manager. It might be because that I used a more aggressive tone than I usually do, the lady straight up told me to send my bucket to her. She got me a prepaid Fedex label, and said she'll get it fixed. We'll see what happens. I am also super disappointed, because even my much cheaper marc jacobs/rebecca minkoffs don't have cracks like these with much longer use.

I just got my bag today and it's also cracked. I'm super unhappy. My first bucket was in pristine condition and I ordered it LAST restock. What the hell changed over the months?
I'm worried if I continue to use it, it will start to get more ruined. :wondering:

You mean the new bag you ordered from the relaunch a few weeks ago already came in cracked? Honestly at this point I'd rather get them from bergdorf/barneys/other dept stores. MS customer service isn't even reliable and their quality is clearly going downhill...
