I just received the Horizon 55 for Valentines Day. I really want a cover of some sort before I use it but am not convinced the LV cover is all that protective. Does anyone recommend this cover or is there another type you recommend ? I love the plastic covers for my Away luggage that are a whopping $20 and wish there was something like that for the Horizon. - lol

I would invest in the LV Horizon cover because it was designed for that specific shape/layout. The wide frame handles won't fit in the standard luggage covers. You could get a cheap $20 one but can't pull it around or actually travel with it on your Horizon in the protected phase.

The LV cover is durable coated canvas - similar to technical gear - and washable as well. Took some in detail pics for future reference if anyone wants to know what the Housse Horizon actually looks like on the luggage. My favourite part is how its full skeleton frame is covered and protected when closed up - what I worry about most is the metal frame, not the monogram body. But like all other LV travel items, expect nicks and bumps to happen and enjoy your beautiful LV items along the journey.

If you get one, ask your CA for a small drawstring bag to keep it rolled up in. Super handy while travelling!

Thanks so much for your input. Your Horizon is stunning !!!
My pleasure! No-one had posted any reference pics when I went to order this Horizon cover (none when I googled either) so glad this will help others.

You're welcome:smile:
At first I wasn't sure how necessary it was either, but after getting it (seeing how often it saved my Horizon from unnecessary damage) I can say that it's worth every penny. Think of it as a travelling dust-bag for your LV.

Can I ask what covers you have for your Away luggage? I recently purchased a complete set and am looking for some covers for them.

The photos are wonderful. Have you used it much since? Anyone else have the horizon 55 and the cover as well? Those of you who do, does the cover protect it as much as you hoped? I read another post by a woman who purchased the 55, took photos of herself (she's darling) with her 55, she was tickled pink, so pleased. Yet, two years later she highly recommends buyers to steer clear due to the fragile nature. Since I have a 55 arriving this week....which I tried to cancel after reading her post....I fear I'll open the box only to fall in love and regret doing so later. Knowing the cover, even with its extra cost, will protect will be a decision maker.

LV luggage is meant to be used, not for display. I will repeat my earlier message of expect nicks and bumps to happen. You need this mindset before you pay for this kind of luxury offering. I don’t see anyone obsessing over vintage Keepalls or LV luggage being imperfect from aging so I accepted this fact before buying, that my Horizon will age precisely the same way. I’m a careful person and took any precautionary steps of protection before use - left the sticker on its metal frame, bought its matching cover - so I can just enjoy it without overthinking. You should have some peace of mind knowing that you can repair or replace it down the road if you only want pristine, perfect looking luggage. LV’s after-market care is excellent. There are a gazillion cheaper options but, to me, owning LV luggage is like living the LV travel dream, the embodiment of their travel heritage or DNA of travel trunks. Nothing says LV like travelling with Vuitton luggage.

After reading LVorDie's post about the fragility of her horizon it sounds like the horizons don't live up to the keepalls reputation. LVorDie wrote:

"I have a Pegase 45 that has held up amazingly for over 10 years and I was in shock of the fragility of the Horizon."

She also wrote:

"Trust me... you WILL love it. It's so sleek and fits everything. It's literally a work of art. But I am telling you honey, it's so fragile, wheeeeeew! I hope you have a private plane and can sit it in a leather seat next to you. Let me know how it turns out! Cheers!"

I think I'll look into the Pegase and the Rimowa since I trust her input. Of course I expect dings and more but not after the first time out flying first class as she shared. You mistook my concern as being obsessed? Only want pristine? Perfect? You might have read that but it's not what I said. I want quality that should hold up. I simply can't rationalize spending money for a flawed design/material used with this particular piece. Sounds like they need to go back to the drawing board and figure out where they went wrong.

Glad you're happy with yours.

Not assuming anything about you. Those are my own expectations for handbags but shared my thoughts after reading many critical posts and comments of “it’s such a waste of money” over this model. I thought giving you an alternative perspective as a Horizon owner would give you a better balance of its pros and cons. If the price point and future repairs give you any anxiety, don’t buy it. Simple.

I usually don’t even bother responding to anyone uncertain about what they want, but thought you were serious and that it would be helpful to you. Good luck
