i wouldn't call it black or charcoal...I've always thought of it as a "dark sea color", it's hard to define. I personally love it, it's a neutral with an oomph. My 07 anthracite looks more blue or green depending what you match it with. Here she is in all her slouchy glory:

I love both black ,browns and anthracite.

Anthracite's color though is like a crayon..like a child colored over the bag. Beautiful
