This is really a great thread. I learn so much from it.

I tried to list down my bags, and found that there are some holes that have been covered (daily large to medium bG), but I still feel the need to get something on that category, simply because the bag (city chevre, veneta large) is such a classic. I am still struggling with whether having them is too much of good thing in the same category...

I ordered my first luxury handbag this summer (a Marco Massaccesi midi Selene in bronze Africa leather), and it is so well made and gorgeous that I instantly want another. I "need" a smaller bag. I "need" a black bag. I came across this story of a woman who *draws* the things she wishes she could buy to curb her frenzy to actually make the purchases. The idea worked so well to stop her unwise consumption that now she's drawing items for others. I am off to find some crayons so I can draw a Massaccessi black merinos Zhoe.

I used to use a diaper bag for everything, so I have come a long way, LOL!!
Me too, me too! I carried a diaper bag only for about five years and then emerged from that and fell into rabid premier handbag lust for about two years. Then I got over it and went back to diaper bags for 3 years and now I'm only in diaper bags part time and part time sans kids so I'm really into bags just for my things again! But no 4-digit price tags because we are house poor now and I am just kind of over it.

How is your tipping point issue going?

The impossible has happened . . . I am bag content.

I just . . . I finally have acquired a great bag for every purpose that I need a bag, and now I don't even really think about bags??? Can you imagine???

I still notice people's bags in public, and keep a "designer handbag count" in my head - I mean, what I've learned cannot be un-learned, nor would I want it to be. I enjoy my wardrobe of bags SO much. And if I had an extra $10,000 to blow, I'd head straight for Chanel, because there's still room in my life for flap or two. So I'm not, like, UN-interested in bags . . . but I'm not lusting after any or planning to get any more in the near future. In other words, I climbed up to the tipping point . . . and didn't tumble past it. I give so much credit to the great advice and perspectives I gained on here! Thank you ALL!

Well done! You started a great thread that got a lot of us thinking, and I'm glad it helped you with your own thinking about bags. Enjoy your collection, and if you ever grow a money tree, enjoy your Chanel bag!

What is the last bag that you have aquired and that makes you content? Curious. [emoji4]

I was working off a pre-determined wish list the entire time, so I didn't exactly *find* that last magic bag and think "a-ha!" I already knew exactly what I wanted, so the order that I got them in didn't really matter. But, for the record, the last bag to join the roster is the LV Neverfull MM in Damier Ebene - it's funny; I actually DON'T EVEN HAVE IT YET, but my birthday is in 2 weeks, and I know I'm getting it, so I count it as acquired already. LOL. This one was last on the priority list, since I already had a Neverfull in Damier Azur, as well as a darker, weatherproof tote bag (Longchamp). The Neverfull is the only bag I'm repeating, because it's just such a perfect, useful daily "mom bag" for me. As soon as I got the DA earlier this year, I knew I wanted DE too, but I waited until my other "slots" had been filled first.

I'd say the last bag that I REALIZED I wanted to make my collection "complete," was a pre-owned Marc Jacobs "Little Stam" in teal. This was also my only impulse buy! It's a little, quilted, kiss lock bag with a chunky gold chain and it is the perfect "pop of color" for my wardrobe. It also filled the "daytime wedding" slot. Other than this one (and the DA Neverfull), ALL my bags are black or brown! So when I saw this one, it actually was kind of an "a-ha!" moment.

Thank you for your detailed answer. [emoji4] I really like your take on collecting bags and being content now. I am not sure if I an content, but I enjoy using my bags more than adding new ones. At least for now. [emoji3]
Wishing you a great birthday in two weeks!

I'm content-ish at the moment. I have a lot of color in my wardrobe, and like you, I had a list. In my case, it was certain colors of bags I wanted to acquire, and since I'm picky about style/hardware/etc., not just any bag would do. I've completed most of my list and added some impulse buys, and for now, I'm just enjoying what I have.

However, I've also acquired a lot of those bags in a relatively short period of time, so I might just be content right now because everything still feels new. When I've had them a little longer and keep putting them all through the rotation, I might feel the collecting itch again. I hope not.
