Guys, I have received my Colette messenger from Bloomingdales and just what I feared, they sent me a store display bag and it's all scuffed and had scratches. I am so so upset. I wish I hadn't thought it. The not so new look of the bag is putting me off from the style. I can return onlym can't exchange as an international customer. If I return, can't get 25% off again. See the photos and u will see a lot of scuffing and marks and scratches. Please advice

I'm sorry. That has to be very disappointing. Call them and complain. Maybe they will honor the 25% off. They have excellent customer service....[emoji4]

I went on chat and spent one hour with little help. This guy asked me to call and I told him I can't make international calls, he called me and connected me to international shipping dept. After 20 mins of hold, as soon as someone came on line, the call dropped. Went back on chat and waited in queue for another 10 minutes and asked the guy to give me further discount. They never said they will give me discount again. Feeling very upset today. He said he can request, but that will take 24-48 hours to approve. The pain is that we buy thru borderfree and the store can do little, it's borderfree that takes payments from us and gives refunds. And trust me, contacting borderfree is the most difficult thing ever. I think I will eventually send it back and wait for another few weeks before I can get a refund. Oh well, maybe it's not meant to be..

I've had lots of trouble with Borderfree myself, so I keep everything I buy because of the hassle of returning it. I don't think your bag looks bad at all. Take it to a leather repair and have them freshen up the skin. Don't worry about the gold studs on the bottom. They will be scratched no matter what you do - even if it arrived in pristine condition it will still scratch over time. And no one sees this as it is on the bottom.. I think it is gorgeous, and would keep it. I can see that you are disappointed, but as an international customer buying off Bloomingdales....this is unfortunately a risk we take.

I have only captured a few scratches in the pics, now that I am sitting trying to fix them with baby oil, there are so many of them, some only scratches and some scuffs that are showing the color underneath thru.. It's aweful, it's like a used bag with a tag. There is no way I can accept this bag for $350! Indentation all over the bag from handling. It's in a bad condition, the more I see it, the more angry I get.

That's terrible! If it is that bad, then I would return it. Without a doubt.

I think you should return it. Scratches, especially on the leather, can spoil the whole experience and in my opinion, they're unacceptable. I let them slide a little on a used bag, but a brand new bag needs to look like a brand new bag. I don't walk into a store and buy a new tablet and expect there to be scratches on the screen or metal. Why should I lower my standards for a bag that cost the same or more?? From the way your describing the situation, it sounds like we are similar. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I agree. As an international customer myself (in a country where only a handful of shops deliver to) I understand it's a pain to return an item, especially because of duty taxes but this is just unacceptable. If it was only the metallic feet, I wouldn't mind, but scratches on the leather or on the metallic front parts? Heck no! Just because it's an online purchase doesn't mean that they have the right to send you a less than perfect bag. I'd definitely return it and get them to send me one with the quality I payed for.

Ok guys, just an update. After about 12 hours of stress, and emails, chat and phone calls, one lady on chat requested borderfree to refund 20% of my order and another lady replied to my email saying they requested borderfree to refund 30% of my order. I got 50% off on the bag that I bought from the 25% off sale. So it was originally $450 AUD and I ended up paying $160! Now I have no complains :))

Yay! Yay! Finally someone who cared! Try using leather conditioner, such as Apple garde. Olive oil could help but doesn't compare to something made to specifically treat leather. I have seen miracles happen with those leather conditioners. I'm so glad you got a happy ending! You fought hard for your new baby, and now you get to enjoy her!

Thank you Melbo, yes finally I get to enjoy my baby. It was a tough day for me yesterday. Thank goodness all turned out to be ok. Can u recommend a specific leather conditioner?

Here's the one I use for soft leather

I use this one for saffiano and soft leather, but only when I have a tougher clean up job (I. E. Makeup, color transfer, oil buildup, etc)

I know it's an added cost but cleaners and conditioner will maintain the look and feel of your bag for years and years. A little goes a long way, so a bottle will last you a while.
