Hi all, has anybody tried to get replacement crossbody straps for a geometric roll bag or one of the trapezoid clutches from 1998?

These are the straps with 2 snaps at the end that connect to the top of the bag.
I'm thinking there is no chance of getting a true replacement but maybe I could try another Coach strap and take to a shoe repair to replace the swivel snaps and the end with a snap. The strap would need to be the correct width.

This is the kind of thing you should expect to be able to get from Coach repair shop but I find them to be useless for things like this, which is too bad.
If you can't find one with the snaps, you can use a regular strap with dogleash clips as long as you can fit the dogleash clips through the keepers. Just clip the dogleash clips together.

I impulsively bought this ergo mini satchel and treated it with vinegar solution to remove the mold, until I noticed there’s a deep crack on the handle. I don’t know if leather glue can fix it so I might try leather filler, but I’m bit scared to sand it and repaint the bag, I hope I didn’t ruin this bag :frown:

Love the bag. You wouldn't need to repaint the whole bag just the tiny area(s) near the handle where you do the repair.

Well I won this auction on shopgoodwill for $9. I don't have the bag in person yet. The game is to figure out: are those scrapes or are those surface stains? On a light colored bag, if it's just a surface stain, it'll come right off with leather CPR! And the bag will look amazing. If they're scrapes there's more work involved. I think these are surface marks.

Anyone care to comment on rehabbing a bag from about 2010?
Usually I will pick up an old Coach from the 90’s and it fixes up pretty easily but I have had doubts about the construction and the leather from those later years. Just yesterday tho I picked up an Alexandra that was pretty rough looking from 2011. It attracted me because the leather was so so smooshie! …and thick!
I noticed on the creed it mentions “Soft Milled Cowhide”. Took a deep breath and dunked her in Dawn and brushed the heck out of the purple satin lining and a lot of colour seemed to bleed out of the leather.
Still in process because I am waiting for her to dry now. I plan on a small amount of warmed “Mink Oil” and a treatment with “Tenderly” from “Urad”. I’ll update…
Any advice for me?

I’m going for kind of a “ Beat Up Old Smooshie Slouchy Coach” vibe, so I’m not looking for perfection.

Mink oil will darken and it could end up looking blotchy. It's okay if it is a dark color. What color is it?

How do you clean the satin interior and signature fabric?
You can use anything that is safe for fabric. If it is only slightly dirty and I don't want to risk getting the exterior leather wet, I use a mild spray cleaner (something that doesn't contain bleach) and wipe with a clean cloth. The advantage of this is that you don't have to rinse.

If it is super dirty, I'll wash it with soapy water, usually using dishwashing liquid. You'll have to rinse well. It's easiest on bags when the lining can be pulled out of the bag. I don't think I would try it if the lining didn't pull out unless I was planning on washing the entire bag. If you wash lining this way, it could end up wrinkly from wringing it out. It can be ironed.

Yea I thought to use the mink oil purposely to try & darken it since a lot of colour seemed to bleed out of it during the dunk, plus I’m after a “Lived In Old Coach Boho” look. It is a “brown-ish” shade with a bit of sheen, not quite metallic look to it. (if that makes sense). 🤷‍♀️
I’m Really Really pleased with how it turned out tho ! 👍 Turned out better than I thought it would. Exactly what I wanted !
Luckily the Mink oil didn’t go blotchy this time !

It looks amazing! I think I remember this as being kind of a bronze color. I had it in a gorgeous turquoise suede.
