Did you apply Black Rock's Leather n' Rich to the leather portion of the bag? It usually does a good job of bringing out the original color. Use it very lightly, let it sit for several hours (or overnight) after an application and then buff. Apply again lightly as needed, but if you put it on too heavy it gets sticky.

Or perhaps you should try Obenauf's LP (leather protector) because it has a tendency to slightly darken the leather.

LOL! If you keep rehabbing you will find that you are turning into a "Mad Chemist!" and sometimes you'll feel like you area spending more on products then on bags!

Thank you for the tip! I'll start with Black Rocks, and put Obenaut's on a 'in case I need it' list.
ETA: I found this Obenauf's, what do you think of it? It definitely has good reviews, but does look like it would practically dye it brown. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002Q907QU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ATZ61JQHZC6XB&psc=1

I love Obenauf's particularly for old faded leather. It really really revives color and can absolutely reverse dryness. It does fade away after a while so if you don't like the darkening it does it will eventually go away anyway. I hate how it looks when you first put it on in a lot of cases but once it soaks in the leather is truly, deeply moisturized.

It doesn't look like a stain..it looks like it was left in the sun for too long. There may not be anything that can be done about the color, it didn't seem like anything came up when I cleaned and conditioned it. What does one do for dried out leather? Is this a soaking situation or would that not do anything in this case?

That's a great idea! I'll try it!
I think if it's faded from the sun the color won't even come back much with Obenauf's because it's the type of dye they use in their newer bags, it seems quite unstable, fades easier and quicker.. Idk... On older bags you could chalk that up to "patina" I would also struggle to keep the drippy liquid Obenauf's oil off the fabric. You could rub it on with your fingers I suppose. I have done that before when I only want it in a little area.

An when you use Obenauf's Oil, put out lots of news paper, give yourself plenty of room, and apply sparingly until you get a feel for how runny it is. Trust. Me.
I was a little too casual the first time I applied it. Luckily it was a test bag, that came out great, despite me. It was a convertible clutch, with the corner seams. I put so much on, it saturated through the seams to the inside. Good times. Side note, that us why I can almost always tell CC from the slight smaller Pocket purse lol.

Yes, those weird corners make it easy for me to tell the difference. I don't think I noticed them until I rehabbed one. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get them to lay flat.

My apologies for asking this if it has already been addressed (I’m guessing it has been), but is the black rocks the same in the white plastic container as the black rocks that’s in the clear glass like container? If not which one is used for these vintage coach bags? Thank you so much. I searched but didn’t find a picture and there were a ton of black rocks referenced in this thread. Thanks again [emoji4]

Yes it is. They stopped using the white plastic container, and now it all comes in the clear plastic container, which is a little smaller, but it is supposed to be the same amount. Even if you see a picture of the white container, what you receive when you order is likely to be the clear container. That happened to me.

Just to see what would happen, I painted on a few thin coats of the Cadillac conditioner I have, drying between coats, and it's looking better! The yellow is still there, but it looks less like a piece of jerky now! I tried it just on one side so I could be sure to see the difference. I think I'll really be able to see a difference with the Black Rocks when I put that on. I'm hoping I can get her fabric cleaned up, and leather looking good by next week on my days off. I'm prepared to be patient though, so I'm not in a rush

Great! That sounds promising!
