BTW, this looks like a genuine "Made in Italy" Madison bag on sale for $24 or make an offer. It has the wonky xxxx-xxx serial number format that scares me, but these bags were made in the 1990s and they used that format during part of that decade.

It is missing the long strap and it has signs of wear, but it is a larger bag (for one of the Italian bags) and if you wanted to practice on an Italian coach bag at a lower price - this might be an option. Be sure to get it authenticated, especially since it is listed on Poshmark.

That is an interesting bag, indeed. I didn’t know coach made bags in Italy. It says vintage, I will have to research to see how long ago they made bags in Italy.

Thanks so much for the info, that helps a lot. The leather looks similar to Italian made Vicenza bags that I’ve collected. Very interesting, thanks again [emoji4]

The color of that bag is called Beechnut and the Italian Madison Coach bags of the 1990s are referred to as being made of "caviar leather". The hardware is usually brushed gold.

Yes, that’s exactly what I thought. I was going to say it looks like “caviar leather” but I wasn’t certain. It is the same kind of leather [emoji4]

Here's another one, it appears to be intact and in better condition. I think it is genuine but best to get it authenticated.

I should have mentioned that some of these Italian Coach bags were made in the late 1980s, too.

Thanks katev. How would I be able to tell a bag that was made in NYC but states made in USA?
You can't, other than the A code, and even some of those could be an error. From 1989 to 1993, Coach started using made in the United States at the bottom of creeds along with an all numeric serial number. Probably half of those were made in NYC as there was only one other plant open.

My weekend rehab project-suede fringe Dinky. It’s a good thing this was a gigantic bargain because it was a pain in the behind to clean. Here are some before photos:

It had a strange stain across the front:

The back was really worn and had what I assume was some transfer:

And you can see how dirty it was based on the part of the flap that was behind the outside pocket:

Here it is after two dunks. The first was with just Dawn and some light toothbrush scrubbing. I let it dry overnight and it was still gross so I put it back in the bath with some Folex and again some light toothbrush scrubbing. I brushed and brushed after it drained and dried a while. It seemed that helped to remove some more of the filth. I let it dry again overnight and brushed again this morning and used an eraser on some of the remaining dirty spots. All of the brushing raised the nap quite a bit so I used a hair clipper with no guard and then a razor blade to tame it a bit. I’m not sure if the texture is still going to bother me but I don’t know what else to try at this point.

I love this bag! I just adore fringe bags! It looks a million times better. I am leaning that suede can be cleaned and can fair very well.

My bag is suede and leather ( not a coach) and it’s very old. My problem is the suede on the inside where I can’t reach is shedding like crazy. Its coming through the snap hole. It gets everywhere and it’s drives me crazy. It’s an older Italian. If only I could find a way to get it all out at one time. But it just makes a mess all over everything. I think it’s called suede crocking. It is truly my enemy.
