Update: My mom got her purse back. The repair stitching was a different color than the original thread and they left threads sticking out. It's weird that they didn't trim the loose ones that they left sticking out. My mom vowed to never buy another Coach product again. No disrespect to you Coach lovers, just thought I would give y'all an update.

It's a shame that they messed up a simple repair. Just out of interest how would LV have dealt with the repair or a 3 year old handbag?

I was pleasantly surprised by Coach standing behind their products. I had a wristlet I used nearly every day for about 4 months. The leather on the strap started to come apart. One day when I was near a Coach store, I took it in to inquire if there was anything else they could do and the SA offered to trade it without hesitation. I wish all companies fixed issues that quickly and easily!

My mom has an 20+ year old LV wallet (Porte Tresor International in Brown Monogram) and hers is stuffed with nearly 20+ CC's in there. Each of the CC pockets had about 4-5 cards stuck in each of them! It's been stuffed like that for more than 20+ years. The card slots were horribly stretched out and the edges began to come apart. She took the wallet to the LV boutique to inquire about repairing the wallet. The SA offered to ship the wallet to their factory in Europe at a cost (I can't remember the exact amount, sorry). It would take several weeks for repair.

The wallet would have to be completely taken apart and replaced with new canvas materials. My mom was hoping they could at least "glue" the edges back together, but apparently that wasn't the case, since the wallet is basically unrepairable. She didn't believe the first SA so she asked another SA. Unfortunately, the second SA said the same thing. She ultimately decided against fixing it and swore to never buy any expensive wallet or any LV Canvas again. :( The SAs were very sweet and helpful, though. Some of the girls in the LV forum didn't seem to have too much trouble getting their SA's to send their bags/accessories off to repair.

She's still using that same wallet right now, or at least, until it completely falls apart on her. Last I checked she still has that wallet stuffed with all her store cards and credit cards, receipts, coins, all that crap. It's literally bulging out and making her purse feel heavy. That poor wallet.

I tried asking at the LV subforum a while ago and never really got a clear idea of people's repair experiences with LV. I have read that the repair charges are really high...high enough that it might be better to save up and just get a new bag/wallet. I hope your mom finds a good solution and that her wallet doesn't cause her shoulder pain!

If the wallet has survived 20 years, I think it has more than paid itself off.

Indeed. No offense to OP's mom but that poor wallet sounds like it's been in absolute agony its entire life. In all honesty, if you blatantly abuse an item, don't be surprised when it finally breaks. :/

Haha, indeed! That once beautiful wallet, despite its condition, STILL snaps shut tightly and holds everything secure. So somehow, it is still in usable condition and it hasn't completely broken apart yet. :( She does own other wallets including a beautiful MFF off-white Coach wallet, but if it doesn't 100% match her purse, she won't use it. :( I get so tired of her complaining about her bag being heavy, but she doesn't believe its her wallet that's causing the problem. No matter what purse she puts that wallet in, the bag automatically gets heavy because of it. It's sucks.

Funny you mentioned that. Mom's Batignolles Horizontal tote is also over 20+ years old, and it has been HORRIBLY abused too, even more worse than her wallet!! The vachetta handles/trims are patinaed a golden brown, has nasty black stuff and ink stains on it, and the interior is extremely dirty.

And I know all the TPF girls are going to hate hearing this, but... my mom used to place that bag on the floor all the time, too. She also placed food of all kinds in there. Whether it's wrapped in a napkin or not!

And to top it off, she never washes her hands, so you can imagine how icky and greasy that bag feels like. That tote is in such miserable condition, but somehow it hasn't completely fallen apart yet. She uses that bag everyday and it's still strong and holding up well. I did look it over from time to time, and there are no rips, tears, peeling edges, etc. Just a handful of nasty stains all over the place. She did buy many new bags, but she always seem to grab her horribly abused BH tote more than anything else. She does not baby her bags at all, either. It's a sad thought.

WHY? Why oh why does she treat them this way??! I can't even imagine doing that to a cheap store-brand bag, let alone a designer one! And your mom really should consider lightening up on her wallet...I had neck/shoulder aches too that were resolved once I got rid of the receipts and coupons and other crap that had accumulated over the months.

I received a coach purse as a gift and have used it for a year. On the strap, the patent leather has peeled away from the stitiching. This peeling is not from wear and tear. I took it to the Coach store in Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton, CA. They told me, "Sorry, but Coach won't repair this." I will try to contact the Coach company directly. I've owned a lot of purses costing way less than this purse and none of them have deteriorated like this.

Honestly, if you used it for a year, I would consider that normal wear and tear.

Hi, I have had a certain wallet for a few years now and I can't recall if the wallet is authentic or not? How can I tell if it is or if it's inspired? Thanks for your help. Talk to you later! =)
