I received her as a Christmas gift about 20 years ago (pre-1994 registration number)., Though she's not terribly heavy, she a very BIG girl at 17.5"H 15.5"L x9"W. At barely 5 feet tall, I look like one of Santa's elves lugging around a sack of toys. But I love her anyway, and have officially dubbed her "The Christmas Bag."

I'm not ashamed to say I prefer vintage over modern Coach. I saw some of the Legacy bags at Macy's last week, including the Legacy Duffle, and couldn't resist fondling them while the salesgirl gave me the evil eye, They were lovely in their own way but I think I'd miss the wonderfully tactile *substance* of the older bags.

Gorgeous!! I love the color and she looks like she could have been bought brand new yesterday - love how the oldies stay looking so fab and wonderful.

Vintage is usually 20 years or older. Right now, until 2014, no bags that include letters in the serial number are considered Vintage.

The bag below was made in Costa Rica 19 years ago and I consider it "near-vintage" and in 1 year it will truly be vintage!

Please forgive me if you were asking someone specifically for their opinion, not trying to butt in, just sharing a few thoughts. The Classic is unlined, the same size as the Penny, and doesn't have a tassel. Between the two of those, I'd pick the Penny. The leather isn't going to be significantly different, based on the feedback of people on tPF who bought the New Classic bag before the Legacy line came out.

If you're interested in an unlined bag, they are available on the auction sites for *much* less money, and there's a wealth of info around here on rehabbing pre-owned classic/vintage bags.

Either way, those bags are darling, I really wish I could find a similar one on eBay because I can't justify another new bag purchase now (got Rory last PCE, that punched my ticket for the rest of the year!)

Hi! kt. Thank you for your sharing! very helpful! I'm in Asia right now for work, and my husband isn't very helpful in choosing a bag. :) I probaly will get a penny. I like the tassel, and more colors to choose from. I'm new here, and very glad to find this forum. People even give out PCE codes. That's so nice.

I actually like several bags, but the most I will buy is two (one for birthday, and one for Christmas). Rory is really great. Enjoy it!
