To clarify, Coach is only changing its corporate name as a parent company. It won't change the Coach brand name. I don't really think it matters what the corporate name is. Corporate names are often all sorts of weird names (or often just numbers). Most consumers and most don't even know what parent company/corporate entity owns what brand.

I saw this trending on Facebook. Almost all of the posts about it were from people who seemed to think that the bags would be called Tapestry, even though the article makes it clear that only the CORPORATE NAME is changing. I seriously think reading comprehension in the United States has gone down hill.

The problem is people don't read it they only look at the title and move on. I think this strategy makes sense considering they want to have multiple brands under an umbrella. When you think of coach you only think of coach when you hear tapestry now you will think of coach and beyond. But whatever any press is good press.

I didn't even realize that they bought kate spade and Stuart Wiseman. I don't like the corporate name in general it sounds kind of matronly IMO.

I thought that they were trying to become the American LV and to be honest kate spade is not a brand I associate with luxury lol. I know Wiseman shoes have a cult following and are good quality I own several pairs of boots not exactly luxury either. They at least make a bit more sense because are known for their leather shoes/boots and coach is known for leather. So that partnering is a bit more fitting.

Like other posts before me have mentioned, Tapestry is just going to take over the corporate name and not the Coach brand itself. However, I don’t like it even as a corporate name, and the bright yellow background for its logo oddly reminds me of Forever 21, or those big bright yellow clearance signs, not a good association in either way. :/

On the other hand, I’m glad that Coach/Tapestry is trying to expand with the purchase of Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman. Only time will tell what comes of it.

Hmmmmm. Our local Dillards always had Coach in a big glass case in the middle of their handbag section. Last night, all the Coach bags were relegated to an obscure back corner next to Sak bags and designer sunglasses were displayed where Coach used to be. The SA told me that Coach was changing their name to appeal to a younger demographic. That was all she knew. So, interesting.

Tapestry to appeal to a younger generation? Tapestry is kind if an old fashioned word and I wouldn't see it appealing to the younger generation......heck, most of them probably don't even know what it means.

The Dillard's associate doesn't know what she's talking about. Coach has answered people on their Facebook, that Coach will still be Coach.
