COACH Hall of Shame - Post Coach fakes here!

Ebay seller restyled_by_ally. This seller's listing was removed from ebay but the same seller is on Poshmark.

Having had the listing removed from ebay, seller knows the item is fake but hasn't ended the listing on PM. I'd be very surprised if the listing is removed from Poshmark but it helps to post here because it can be reported and the seller can be watched on ebay in case it's relisted.

PM seller: restyledbyally

ETA: I'm not sure if it was relisted on ebay or if there was a glitch that made it look like the ebay listing was removed but this is active now!

Etsy seller treatyoufair

(Insists it's authentic.) FYI, I've seen more fakes of this style than authentic!

If anyone wants to test Etsy for their responsiveness to reports of fakes, here's the listing. (Etsy is as lax as Poshmark, IMO.)

ETA: She sold this one:

Another Japanese listing. (Seller has 41K+ listings, 892 of which are "Coach" and it's virtually impossible to go through to find whether there are other fakes.)

Japanese seller japa_japan

I'm getting so sick of finding and reporting fakes from Japanese sellers who seem to think they're able to recognize fakes and immune from ebay sanctions.

This seller is back with yet another fake and ebay gives free passes.

This seller's fake that was first reported on June 6 (and at least once since) has been relisted again.

In case anyone thinks that Poshmark seller shanahanlu aka ebay seller talula-lake23 has just made a few "honest" mistakes, consider this.

The fakes I'd posted earlier in the week, now removed from ebay are still listed on Poshmark.

One of the Poshmark listings now is shown without the creed pictures. Hmm. I wonder why!

And there are other fakes too so it's pretty clear that she's not verifying the legality of her items.

There may be more fakes.
OMG! This seller just doesn't learn! (I have no idea why ebay would allow her to keep selling. It's obvious she doesn't verify her items prior to listing them.)

Here is yet another fake today and I'm posting the pictures because it's a serial number/prefix I don't recall ever having seen!

talula-lake23 (previously selling on ebay under her shanahanlu_1974 ID):

talula-lake23 aka shanahanlu_1974 JHH-9144 back.jpegtalula-lake23 aka shanahanlu_1974 JHH-9144 creed.jpegtalula-lake23 aka shanahanlu_1974 JHH-9144 front.jpeg

And the same item being sold on Poshmark by shanahanlu.

Also on PM and I don't believe previously posted:
alula-lake23 aka shanahanlu_1974 aka shanahanlu 0974-534 creed.png alula-lake23 aka shanahanlu_1974 aka shanahanlu 0974-534 front.png

:( So many fakes from her. And even though they've been removed from ebay, she keeps them up on Poshmark.

 So many fakes from her. And even though they've been removed from ebay, she keeps them up on Poshmark.

The 0974-534 shows up with a variety of fonts in the logo but usually with very similar spelling and punctuation mistakes, and sometimes with -531 instead of -534. "marXings, scar, glovf, Crain and wBinkles" show up often, maybe always. Click on the thumbnails:

These are the most readable ones in my file. Others including the -531s aren't as clear. Interesting variety! One of my "Willises" came with that number, which is how it got a place on the Fakes List.

The JHH- prefix is a new one.

Here's a new one on ShopGoodwill. The creed clearly says "made in Korea." I notified the sellers that it's a fake and should not be represented as a genuine Coach product.

I'm no expert but the spacing on the creed is a mess, the serial number is odd, and "made in Korea" is bad news. Too bad because the bag is kind of cute.

Update: to this Goodwill's credit, they closed the listing immediately and replied to the ticket, thanking me for alerting them to a fake. I owe my knowledge of fakes to this forum!

Just a comment on the sentence I've highlighted in red:

What you've posted seems to imply that it would be okay for Goodwill (and other sellers) to list items as "fake," "replica," "counterfeit," "inspired" or whatever other terminology would equate to an authenticity disclaimer.

And that highlights an issue I've found with Goodwill and other charities. They wrongly believe that if they don't list something as authentic then it's okay to sell. (On occasions in which I've pointed out to stores that an item is counterfeit, I've been told that "we aren't selling it as ________ (fill in the blank with Coach, Louis Vuitton, Chanel or whatever) and that's why the prices are cheaper."

The fact is that it's ILLEGAL to sell any counterfeit item PERIOD, whether admitted as such or not. It doesn't matter how it's represented.

I'm glad that in this case, Goodwill ended the listing. I hope they don't relist it with an authenticity disclaimer.

You caught an implication that I didn't intend to make. I was simply trying to alert the seller to what I saw, which was a fake bag being sold--probably unintentionally, but who knows--as the real thing. I wasn't trying to offer the seller legal advice; I'm not qualified to do that. I certainly didn't mean to imply that selling a fake is *ever* o.k.

In any case, the seller understood and took the item down, which is exactly what should happen. If I see the bag reappear in any form including "replica of a Coach purse," I'll call them on it and my language won't be quite as polite. Thanks for the detail on that.

This is a new one for me! The serial number looks like a phone number, area code and all!
