COACH Hall of Shame - Post Coach fakes here!

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

Although the listing was ended, the seller has been discussed many times even coming to TPF to defend his honor.

Yet clearly, provintagegear still isn't verifying authenticity before listing items.

Here's another fake.

IMO, it's not enough to end a listing when it's posted on TPF's Hall of Shame. The RIGHT and LEGAL thing to do is to NOT list items before making sure they're legit.

One has to wonder how many fakes the seller has sold.

Good grief! For a seller who (seems to) read here, he sure isn't always doing the right thing!

The "abbie zip crossbody" fake I posted above was previously posted (by me!) when I asked about the same POS in April, 2017.

For a while, ProVintageGear (at Etsy) was doing the right thing and verifying authenticity of his purchases however, he seems to either not care any more, think he's expert enough to self-authenticate or he thinks we forgot about him.

However as a potential buyer who was considering one of his items, I also look at others to make sure he's staying honest!

Unfortunately, I'm not impressed and have looked for other sellers with the same/similar items.

I doubt that Etsy will remove the listings when reported but I'll post here anyway.

Fake daypack:

And this was just on the first 2 pages of listings. (I didn't go through 10 pages worth but I bet there are more.)

I think Etsy seller ProVintageGear was only interested in damage control once he realized people could do an Internet search of his shop name, land here, and see he has sold fakes. I remember he responded to my post, indicating he had removed the fake. I get the distinct feeling he was looking for a pat on the back. And my take was , dude, how did a newbie amateur buyer like me spot the fake while he advertises that he utilizes multiple steps to ensure authenticity. Now that I think of that, he never addressed that .
And now more hits for his fakes will surface. Gets ready for his indignation in 3, 2, 1 . . .
I still remember that red wannabe weston. Ugh. A couple of vintage catalogs and he is good to go. He was also clueless about the Shoulder Sac versus one of the later made slim duffles.
And remember , sound the warning bell because NYC bags are disappearing at an alarming rate!!!
I’ll stop now.
Lest lurkers think I am being unduly harsh, there was just so much fake Coach made in the 90’s still being circulated. By sellers like him. And free authentification is offered here. Listing fakes can be avoided.

Damage control? Possibly, but in this post, I even commented that ending a listing because he was caught isn't enough! A reputable seller LEARNS from his mistakes, realizes that his expertise isn't as good as he thinks it is and takes the bit of extra effort to prove his integrity.

seller thecoachexpress

In this listing, it appears that the seller strategically (purposely?) placed her watermark such that it makes the (invalid) prefix of the serial number difficult to read! (Watermark in other listings allows buyers to read s/n.)

The post above was from April 30. The previous fakes were removed but thecoachexpress relisted one of them.

This isn’t the first rodeo for seller : thecoachexpress

And it’s a pricy Foach at that!
thecoachexpress has a recent name change to: mybagvault (9185)

And mybagvault has this current fake:

And talk about deceptive photography - what size is that mannequin anyway, a minus 12? If you look at just 2 City Bags, length 11 inches, from the listing you posted and this one for a different City Bag,
https://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Red-...20eeabaec:g:SfYAAOSwgsVbe6N9&autorefresh=true
the manni's front to back hip measurement must be about 5 or 6 inches. No wonder those bags look more like 16-inch long briefcases!

Or this one, where the same style 11-inch-wide City Bag taken from less than a 45-degree angle looks like it would completely block out her hips if seen from the front.

That kind of defeats the purpose of the mannequin. Presumably, the mannequin is used to give a buyer a feel for the scale of the bag. I wonder if ebay would consider it SNAD if a buyer wanted to return because it's not as large as in the pictures. And better yet, the size 16 buyer would send a side by side comp of the listing picture vs. her own picture with the bag on her hip!

The following IS A JOKE, but could potentially happen!
