A few pages back I said I would get around to experimenting with bag charms / regular charms on dinkys. I took a bracelet I got from the outlet (was originally from retail) and the heavy 1941 bag charm from the Nordstrom sale and re purposed them. The bracelet had too many charms and was noisy and the bag charm was also noisy and heavy if not taken apart.

Here are 2 necklaces I put together and the remaining bracelet, I might switch the charms around in the future as they're very easy to remove. BeFunky Collage.jpg

Added a little lucky charm (literally!) to the zipper of my wristlet

Used one star on the rexy kisslock because the hardware matched

Added the lock from the big bag charm and a little key from the bracelet to my dinky:

Here is the leftover charm I haven't used yet, maybe I will put it on a backpack or tote IMG_1361.jpg

And the last man standing: rexy in black, not sure where I will put him but I love this charm so it shouldn't be too much of a challenge :P

Great job! I haven't dismantled my bag charm yet, but need to get it done. My favorite is the lock and I have a plan for it. I'm also leaving the leather flower with the leather strip. I think I'll just add the Rexy to my display of metal Rexy's. The star is the one I won't have much use for, I'm not much for stars.

Thanks! Yeah my charm was sitting around in a box for a while so I decided to just try to use it. I feel like you get so much out of this one charm (especially since we got a very good discount on it). A similar leather flower alone costs that much, plus rexys are expensive and I haven't seen these locks around. Maybe I'll get a lobster clip and make the rexy into a proper charm. I look forward to seeing what your plan is for the lock!

I took mine apart too because it was heavy and noisy, I added the leather Tea Rose to my satchel with some of the fringes that came from my defringe saddle bag as it matched perfectly. I didn't think of adding the star to my Rexy bag! Great idea--I'm stealing that idea!

Yay rexy kisslock and star twins  I love how that tea rose looks on your satchel. What do you mean by defringe saddle bag? Have I seen it before? I can't remember

I think there are more pictures in the saddle club thread as several of us defringed but basically the Fringe saddle bag seemed to have some fringes on the flap that didn't sit right for me, sort of stuck out like whiskers. Also these saddle bags had the woven braid on the side which wasn't fully displayed because of the fringes. I didn't take all of the fringes off, just the "whiskers" and shorten the top ones. I kept the pieces around and reused them like this charm. Also added to this same satchel, zipper pulls with more defringed pieces.

Rexy star twins!

Excellent idea for the use of the 'cat whisker' fringe pieces....... and the leather flower!

Isn't the original only $95? The seller wants $80...is that a good price? Maybe since it includes tax.
No tax and free shipping. $15 + tax saved, good price to me when it's still brand new on Coach.com. (Not excellent, but good)it's not my auction, I just post what I see when I know there was some interest. That would be $22 saved for me if I were interested. $22 savings is good to me on a $95 item.

Oh, I see your point...it's definitely a nice savings!
