Yours is beautiful. I got mine a couple of days ago, but it’s still sitting in the bag wrapped. Carrying the bag from the mall to my car it was pretty heavy so I am not sure if I am going to keep it. I’ll probably unwrap it in the next couple of days once Thanksgiving festivities die down.

I purchased the Merlot 40 a while ago and haven’t used it yet. Do you use it with the strap or as a huge everyday handheld bag? I bought a Rogue in black at the same time and I love the rogue leather…just not sure about the Empire…suggestions on using it, please!
I am actually re-homing my Rogues because I realize not a fan of the handles. I do mainly hand held only for these totes. The Empire handles are more comfortable, at least to me. But if you carry a lot for either bag, not as fun carrying by hand.
I have the 40 in dark navy and honey brown. I carry them as shoulder bags, but in my opinion the strap drop is way too long and I’m 5’10”. So, my SA punched 11 extra holes in the strap so it sets higher and way more comfortably. Hope this helps. BTW a little jealous you have the merlot. 😁
I’m definitely the same as fayden and Sandra on the empire 40. I absolutely love the bag and don’t mind carrying it handheld or shoulder. I like handheld bags though so it’s not an issue for me. After Sandra posted pictures of her strap with extra holes punched in, it was definitely a game changer. I own leather tools and punched some extra holes too and I like the bag even more with a shorter shoulder strap. I also bought a soft strap on Amazon and it works really well too.
For the size of the bag I actually find it easy to shoulder carry.

That’s a good idea to punch more holes in the strap. They did that at the store? I actually ordered the brown one first because Merlot was sold out then a week later the Merlot showed up on the website so I ordered it. Totally influenced by social media! I decided to keep the Merlot since I liked the color. But that being said, it’s sitting in its dust bag in my closet like a naughty secret!

Yes, I had the extra holes punched at the Coach boutique. I was so nervous (because OCD), but the SA did a superb job with measuring out & sizing the holes perfectly.
