Coach doesn’t want to encourage your business

I think that is just one insensitive, stupid SA! I can't believe that Coach would want a representative of their company to discourage anyone's business to their face, even if they are aiming their marketing at the young. There is a marketing theory this is based on. People are creatures of habit and the trick in marketing is to attract new customers when they are at turning points in their life, such as when they transition from being a student to a career woman.

I have noticed over the years that I am getting a lot less service in stores than I used to, and my 21 year old daughter is getting more attention.

I also think that companies are afraid to make plus-size clothing because that will detract from their marketing to the young and hip.

Remember this: it is none of your business what other people think of you.

That includes one stupid SA & Coach corporate. I'd be damned if I'd let one minimum wage sales girl make me think I was anything less than fabulous, even if I were old, fat, & in sweats.

Coach cares about nothing other than money. They are a business. Who cares if you never get a PCE, everything ends up on clearance at the outlets or another retailer. Everything. With just a little patience, you can get the items you want at a better price and get it without someone's snotty attitude.

So, as someone else said: don't let her ruin your swagger!
Damn straight!

This is the sad truth...
Designers are becoming more and more choosy when, in my very humble opinion, some of them have no reason to. Coach, you are not Hermés. Please realize that. You make cute purses/accessories, but you aren't a premier designer.
I'm sorry you had to go through this experience :(

They will never be a premier brand no matter how much they try. IMO a brand can't be a premier brand or become one with so many outlets around, and so many styles every few months. The outlets devalue the brand.

It's so sad but that's how most brands are, they target towards teens and 20's because they are the most influenced and trend conscious :/ I'm sorry you had a bad experience but you rock so don't let one SA ruin your swagger :)

Yes they are more easily influenced and trend concious but also BROKE.......... I should know. I would never go into debt for a purse or clothes but I have friends who do and are. Also they buy LV not Coach.

Since Coach and the SA who spoke to you basically are not high on social or customer skills, please don't take the comments to heart. You know who you are and that you are special and don't need Coach's approval or PCE to be okay.

There are a lot more 18-25 year olds than nearly all older groups of women combined (at least that how I read a FB chart on women's ages) which could be why Coach's target audience is that Group. Prada my xss.

That said the SA's plain rudeness is her problem and Coach's to their bottom line which near as I can tell isn't getting better...which really is sad.

Don't let this get you down. Coach is doing things right now that are a total turn off. The 5 different prices for the same item at one time. The no PCE on Borough, raising the price on Borough then sending them to the outlet is crazy.

I am not fashion forward, I just like what I like and I realize I'm not 20 anymore but I still try to rock it, don't let this discourage you.

As I've said before Coach is trying to become something it's not-premier and exclusive. But they're going to piss off their longtime customers in endless pursuit of hip and young new ones just ask JCPenney how well that worked out for them...

No customer should ever hear that from a SA, regardless if you are in a LV store, Coach store or even at a "low" end store like Wal-Mart. Good for you for walking out. Talk about a turnoff. The thing I find most ridiculous about this whole thing is how there is such a vast variety of handbag styles out there to cater to women and men of all ages, sizes, races, whatever!! I would have never been able to afford a Coach bag in my 20's anyway. Isn't that the case for most people?

I'm in this demographic, and I've never gotten a PCE... How would they know my age anyway? I don't recall ever entering a birthdate or giving that info to a SA.

Either way, that was an insensitive thing for the SA to say and silly, too. I'm sorry she made you feel less fab than you know you are.

If what the SA says is true, then it's an, um, interesting approach. I read a financial report recently about my generation being much more financially conservative than previous generations due to the recent recession. (Not completely true in my case) but good luck with that, Coach.

What a rude and ignorant comment for anyone to make....let alone some sales girl at coach. What happened to manners and respect ? If I get a PCE you may have it!

As an employee of Coach why should she hide the Coach's asinine approach to customers? She is after all just a sales girl at Coach.

As a human being she should have had more tact, compassion, understanding not to say what the company she works for actually thinks.....because it might ruin someone's day, because saying the truth is not always the kind thing to do.

What a nasty way to treat their customers! I'm in that "20-something, Prada-wearing" group that she mentioned, but I never wore them in their stores, so how would they know? And, I bought all my Pradas authenticated on the Bay :p Is that what they want? I don't think many young people who buys Pradas full-price would have any $$ left for Coach! Or that they would wear Coach to begin with...

I'm in my late 20'a and can afford maybe 1 or 3 a year at FP but I shop only deletes at the outlets so I can get more of what I want. Plus what I save from buying at the outlets I can put towards a vacation or something else I want......or just add to my savings/future down payment account.
