So I finally bit the bullet and ordered one of these in the nude color - I'd been coveting it since I first saw it months ago.

And... I'm a little bummed, actually. On the one hand, the style is absolutely everything I remembered it being. It's super cute, lightweight, and fills a need in my collection for a light-colored crossbody bag. I'm disappointed in the leather though. It doesn't feel like the thick, touchable leather of the exterior of my Bedfords - it feels like the thinner, more papery leather of the lining. Maybe they went with the thinner leather on the flap because it folds easier - less likely to crease when opening/closing (the sides and bottom feel more like what I was expecting). I guess I'm just kind of put out that it's not as pet-able feeling as my other 1941 bags. It's very nice, and I like it a lot, but this is not a cheap bag and when I hold it next to my other 1941 bags the quality doesn't seem to match up.

I returned mine in black for exactly this reason. I do am not impressed with the thinner glovetanned leather on the newer 1941 bags (and the increasing price point).

Is this what most of the newer 1941 bags are made with, or is it unusual? I got the frame bag in oxblood and it feels like the usual leather, and that’s a more recent bag than the Cooper. I hope it doesn’t turn up too often - the feel and quality of the leather is 90% of why I buy Coach in the first place. If that goes by the wayside, then there’s not much reason for me to keep buying from them. As it is, I won’t buy online again.

I love my coopers. I don't think the leather is thin at all. Stiff maybe but it's a structured bag. It's not supposed to be smooshy like a hobo. I've been using mine since November and December and they aren't getting any softer, but I don't think they are meant to.

I can't speak to the newer styles, other than the "newer" edition 2018 rogues that are visibly more slouchy and thin than past ones. I immediately noticed the leather thinness on the Cooper shoulder bag, especially in comparison to my dinky's; which imo have thickness consistent with my bedfords (proportional to its size, of course). For that reason I couldn't justify keeping the cooper SB for the price, but will revisit if it hits 50%+ off.
