The black Rogue tote really shows scratches because it’s such a big piece of flat leather. I don’t love that; I wish I’d bought the version with the links on the sides rather than the ends. It doesn’t bother me on the black Dinky. It’s smaller and it’s easier to protect that bag from brushing up against things.

Literally just received this bag and it has a little cluster of scratches at the bottom. You can’t really tell unless you hold it at a certain angle but now I know it’s there it’s all I see [emoji23] Was debating sending it back for a replacement but then if it’s just going to scratch anyway what is the point? Or return and get something else..... [emoji30][emoji57]IMG_1515756725.556855.jpgIMG_1515756770.049263.jpg

If you really like the bag, I'd say keep it and try moisturizer on it and maybe a few applications. I know what you mean about knowing they are there but if they are on the bottom, I'd see how I felt after moisturizer and wait a few days so you can think about it.

Hi everyone,

I just got a glovetanned leather 1941 turnlock saddle bag in black from FOS. I'm wondering how best to protect her before taking her out?

I ordered some Apple Garde but I haven't tried it yet. Do you cover the hardware when spraying on Apple Garde?

Does anyone have any other suggestions for water or stain protection?

You are not supposed to use Coach cleaner or moisturizer on glovetanned leather, right? When new 1941 glovetanned bags get dirty, how do I clean?

Why aren't you supposed to use the Coach products on glovetanned leather?

It says on my Coach cleaner and moisturizer bottles not to use on glovetanned leather. I read somewhere on TPF that there's silicone in the Coach products or something, which is bad for the glovetanned for some reason.

I've heard this, too, and find it so contradictory to the fact that Coach makes their moisturizer for their bags! I have a newer bottle and don't think it says that any more. I remember checking with my SA and she said it was fine.

I asked the website chat agents and they said the new formulation does not have silicones, and is fine for glovetanned. But there's no label change or any easy way to see that it's the new one!

I looked at my bottle a little bit ago and you'd have to read the back of the bottle. You're right...no way to know from the front. Maybe they could have added "new and improved"...just kidding!

When I was in my store recently browsing for a wallet, one of the SAs approached me and offered to moisturize and condition my black linked Rogue Tote. It definitely did lessen the appearance of the scuffs that I'd accumulated over time, but didn't get rid of the big scratch trail my Rexy charm had left. Really nice of them to provide this service, though!
