This style was made, its the Selma totw, but I have never seen it in that color combo. On occasion, Marc Jacobs has uses ykk zippers instead of lamp or riri. If you look closely at the side of the lil metal 'c' shaped piece of metal that holds the zipperpull to the zipper head, it may be marked ykk. My gut is saying fake based on the color alone. I've owned two of the Selma styles previously.

Thanks jun3machina!

It's a light lavender color with gold hardware.

From what I can tell the zipper "c" that you're talking about - one side has T Y stamped, the other side a K. Not YKK or riri or lamp. And it has no labels on the inside.

I just pulled out the zipper pocket lining and checked all along the seams and corners. No Tags.

jun has a better memory than i do when she suggested spring 2004, in which case there would be no season tag. the fall 2005 version would have a season tag, but that one didn't have leather around the nameplate - i forgot that detail

does the stitching on yours have a slight swoop to it around the nameplate? i can't tell from your photo. in comparison to another from the season:

i haven't seen that color, either, and the lining doesn't appear to be the typical suede, but the engraving looks the same to me. sample, maybe? jun? i just don't recall this style being popular enough for anyone to have bothered faking...

I appreciate you and jun3machina taking the time to help me.

I attached more images of details as I'm not quite sure what you mean my swoop to the stitching.

Also the lining as you said, is not a suede lining. It's a poly/cotton feeling fabric.

The things that are throwing me off are a) lining color (MJ never did this color lining on anything, although he has used a twill cotton)
B) the nylon zipper: MJ bags never use nylon
C) the engraved hardware looks good though, gold would mean its 2005...and I *think* he did gold and silver hw variations between 2004-2005
D) I have seen fakes of the Selma bags. But normally the stitching or nameplate or something is off.
E) the edge on the inside can be seen without edgepaint.
F) the original selmas were actually a mix of patent and calf leathers

i was comparing the interior stitching to this photo

the stitching on yours is more / whereas in the above they're slightly rounder

i'm not personally comfortable calling this one either way. i'm leaning toward it being a prototype but that's just my opinion

Thanks faith_ann;28747692 . I get what you mean now.

To be honest, I received this from my relative years ago before I was even interested in handbags or even really understood them. I never used this (it's not really my style or color) and just recently took it out to hopefully sell (moving and clearing out things).

At this point I don't know what to do with this handbag. I'd toss it if I know for sure it's not authentic.

Would it be a bad thing to go to a more reputable re-seller like fashionphile (currently in CA so they're an hour from me) and have them assess it in person?
