My mum gifted me a vintage Hermes bag for my birthday but I’ve always had my doubts woth this bag because it’s a vintage Hermes and was also gifted to her a few years ago from her friend who has now passed... I just really want to know if it’s 100% authentic and what year was it and wonder what selling price is? The lining inside feels like its suede which makes me think it’s not real. Can somebody help me what model/make/year this is and more​

Hi, unfortunately this item won’t be able to be authenticated per the guidelines of this thread, since it is already in your possession. I am not an authenticator, but my understanding is that this thread is meant to be a public service for items currently for sale on a major website. However, I think you can find your answer if you do an online search along the lines of “how to tell if a Hermes bag is authentic or fake”, I hope that helps a little bit! It can be overwhelming to determine this on your own, but I’m pretty sure that after you read 3-4 articles along these lines you will have your answer. Wishing you the best in these times!

Hi I'm actually posting this on behalf of my friend who is not a forum member and is thinking of making an offer on this bag.
I told her to wait because a couple of things rang alarm bells for me although I'm a real novice in this it was a 'vibe' more than anything.
1; it seemed odd that someone would have a totally unused bag like this in their possession for 6 years after purchase -maybe some people do buy but never use but surely they wouldn't hold onto it that long before re-selling
2; the strap has a 'hermes made in france stamp' I understand that jypsiere straps do not come with this stamp (unless parhaps some do some dont?)
3; colour looked wrong
my friend is 'watching' the bag its in her wishlist its just been listed so I dont think theres a rush for response.
Its just I dont want her to make an expensive mistake as its not a massive saving on a new one brought from the store .

Hi All,

I am having the hardest time finding info. on Croc & Alligator Birkins with regards to the bottom of the bag. I know this sounds silly, I have always thought that the skin on the bottom of a Croc or Alligator birkin is suppose to go horizontal not virtual. But I have seen a few of these now that have the skin going virtual to match the skin direction on the front. Should I assume these are fakes? Could it be either way? Although it doesn't seem very consistent for Hermes to be inconsistent ... Thoughts? Here is a link of a bag I love. Is this correct? It's stunning!
