Please can someone who owns a 14 series SINGLE FLAP MAXI tell me if there is a stud on the inside behind the clasp stem? I know that there are studs here on the 13 series. I am looking to buy this 14 series caviar SHW but photos show there is no stud. Thanks!

Please take this to the chit chat or perhaps another thread; this is for authentication only.....thanks.

Hi Roku,
I read that you don't authenticate for items on Carousell. Is there any advice that you have for me to authenticate elsewhere? I paid for authenticate4u service and it's been a week, I don't even get a email reply from them other than automated message. I am pretty desperate as my transaction date is 9th may so if there is anything amiss, I can still salvage before 9th may so as not to complicate matters.

Hi Gail13,

I saw your name in some of Roku's replies to other members in this forum, that you can provide some guidance on rules of authentication posting.

First, I know Roku did mention somewhere that the won't authenticate Carousell's postings. I am wondering if you can advice me an alternative or can you help me? I paid a deposit and I will need to deal on 9th may. Went to authenticate4u and paid a fee to them but there is no response from them for a week. I thought no matter how busy they are, they should at least reply me to give me an estimated waiting time but now I don't even know if my email and photos are in good order.called them during UK work hours and left voice mail but no response either. Pretty desperate.

Hi- Roku and I post together on this thread. We don't authenticate for Carousell or like sites for various reasons, but the problem you are going to have is finding someone to authenticate a 17 series or newer bag from pics alone. Most will want you to send the bag in to verify in person. There are so many superfakes out there, which makes this a more difficult process.

There are some reputable online sellers mentioned in these threads which would be what we would recommend.. You can also check the Ebay threads for more safe buying options....

A4U seems to have been slow lately....Etinceler is good but as mentioned will not be able to help unless you send the bag to them...

OK here goes. I have looked at the post 1058 and also the response in post 1068 which states that the bag has been relines - hence nothing to do with my bag.

Item: Single flap with press closure (don't know name sorry)
Serial number: 6073247
Seller: Me on behalf of my aged aunt.
Link: Not applicable
Who took the pictures: me
History of the bag: I believe it to have been bought in Paris in 2004
Comments: have tried to get this bag authenticated through Authenticatemybag.com without success.

Hope i have done it right this time. All help is extremely gratefully received and I am going to pay to get an authentication too.

Having such good people at The Purse Forum with such amazing help is invaluable.
The bag in the pictures is authentic.
Back then there were no real names to these bags. I'd just call it a quilted timeless lambskin flap. It's convertible from clutch to shoulder bag because of the way the chain tucks in discreetly.

Re: post #1114
Hi Gail13, thanks for your reply. The bag is in the seller's hands. I'm hoping to know the bag's authenticity before I purchase the bag. In order to take the login photo, I would have to pay for the bag first and bring it home. Is there any way you can tell me whether the bag is authentic without that photo? I'm not sure how I could do that without paying for it first. Could you perhaps explain the significance of the login photo? Many thanks!

We didn't used to authenticate bags for private listings and Roku our authenticator likes to know the bag is in your possession. She will see this post and perhaps she can make an exception, it really is her decision. We aren't trying to be difficult, we get so many requests we like to be sure aren't authenticating for sellers who really should consult a paid service as a matter of business.

Roku and Gail,

I would just like to say a huge thank you to both of you for your amazing help and the work you do. The information I have received has been more successful than anything else I have managed to get in the last two weeks.

Please, please continue your great efforts. We all appreciate the amazing help and advice you give us.

^ this too.
But, I also have to add, one of my main concerns with orphan images is that I have no idea where certain photos are from. They could be from sites like Craigslist where we don't authenticate for, or they could be some random scammer who texts people images, there is no agency to where the origin of the photos are from. The seller says they are theirs, and if we authenticate the item based on the photos, it's completely moot without some type of remote agency to tie the photos with.

Granted, people list things on Ebay and pull a bait and switch, etc., but, at least there is some type of breadcrumb history, origin, or agency to track back to.

I just don't feel comfortable authenticating random images where I have no idea where they came from. I think this is a completely legitimate and valid reason for not authenticating orphan images without either 1) a working link to a platform/site we authenticate or 2) a login shot. If the TPF member has it in their possession, to me that is enough "origin" to authenticate. The bag in question is indeed the bag in question. If we didn't authenticate for certain sites, for very understandable reasons, but we did authenticate orphan images, that would make the former spirit completely moot.

Like gail13 mentioned, there was a time when this Authenticate this Chanel forum authenticated ZERO orphan images, NOR did it authenticate completed/ended/sold listings also. Since then, I want to believe we have evolved quite a bit and are taking on more.
