I vote m/l with ghw! I have this combination in both the m/l and the rectangular mini and to me both are very different bags. Not only does the m/l fit more, but it also is a bigger bag aesthetically. They both look completely different on me and I love having both! I use the m/l when I need to carry more, the mini comes out when I need a crossbody.

Hi all,
I am new to Purse Forum, hoping to pick everyone's brain on purchasing my first Chanel.
I plan to go into the boutique tomorrow to purchase a Chanel classic flap. I know I want it in black and I also know I want it in caviar leather. But I can't seem to decide to get it in small or medium and get it in silver or Gold.
I know the medium size seems to be the most classic style which is a big selling point for me. However, being only 5 ft I really want a bag that's most flattering and proportional to my body type. I am used to small bags so the fact that the small size doesn't fit much doesn't really bother me that much. And because I want a double flap I am not considering the rectangular mini at this time. What do everyone think about sizing especially if you are petite like me. Also is there any difference in resale value when it comes to small vs. medium?
In terms of hardware. I love black and shiny gold. But I do have a Gucci with the same combination and I adore that bag. So I am open to either staying with the gold or trying something new like the silver. I was wondering what are your opinions on the hardware. Gold seems to be more classic which again is a big selling point for me. But at the same time I want something that's modern and young which the silver seems to bring out more. I am not going to use this bag everyday, but I do hope to wear this frequently when going out both casually and on more formal settings. Overall I am more casual and somewhat modernly dressy but rarely super fancy. I don't wear much jewelry other than my wedding ring which is in platinum with diamond and a necklace in silver. Again, is there any resale value difference between the silver vs. gold?

How would you wear the bag most often - single strap or double? If single strap, go for the small. If you plan to wear double strap, go for the medium!
I'm only 5ft tall and I also have classic double flap caviar in small size. It's always hard to get small CF in the US nowadays. The hardware that I have is Champagne Gold Hardware, so it looks gold in one angle, but it looks silver at a different angle. I'm wearing as a single strap for my small CF and I love it! I don't have a medium size, so I can't say anything about that size. As for a resale value, I have no experience it that area as well.

I would go with gold HW or light gold HW (light gold HW is only by seasonal pieces. Not by classic pieces). For me gold stands the test of time. When you’re get older most people change from silver to gold. And for me this bag it’s a keeper for my whole life
and mostly the first Chanel ends with a whole collection

I bought the black caviar with GHW as my first bag and I love it! I'm 5'3" and I carry the straps both in my hand or on my shoulder, and alot of times I end up crossbodying it - I really dont mind where it sits when I do but I understand why some people hate it.
I chose GHW because all my jewelry and other bags are mostly gold. I truly wanted the most classic looking bag as my first purchase and the gold and black felt timeless to me!

Did u get the small or medium size. That’s kind of how I feel. I really want the most classic chanel bag. But at the same time I want to feel proportional lolll if I have a few inches taller I feel like there would be no doubt in my mind to get the medium. LoL

Yes, small is VERY rare in US! Mini Rectangular is also rare! That bubblegum pink was only 1 left in Harrods. They didn't display the small size on the shelf, you have to specifically ask them tho.
