I LOVE jeans. I have jeans that are over 25 years old. At one time, LA was the center of designer jeans with Seven for all mankind and Citizens for Humanity being the height of designer jeans 30 years ago, and True Religion and Rock and Republic following shortly thereafter. The latter two flamed out and are completely PLAYED out here in LA, but Citizens is still very popular with kids today. Levis and its current redesign, ReDone, are still popular. Levi’s resale are strong. I personally LOVE AG jeans, but it is because I am close friends with management and always support people I adore. Plus AG jeans are deliciously comfortable. Right now, if I buy new jeans, I buy Mother, Paige or ReDone.
I also LOVE jeans! I believe I've had every brand mentioned here in your post. I remember buying the Victoria Beckham Rock & Republic jeans way back. They were so expensive! LOL but I had to have them (still do)
The True Religion big stitch fad will be back one day..I just know it.
I still love my 7FAM

I'm on a jeans kick now....don't know why since my weight is up. I think I'm trying to find the perfect ones. Just returned some Levis to costco. had to try them as they were about half the price Levis sells them for. but they were mid-rise and high works better for me.

Victoria Beckham Rock and Republic Crown Jeans was the height of Rock and Republic’s popularity! And those were so damn expensive! Michael Ball, the founder of Rock and Republic, and I share close mutual friends and we used to share Thanksgiving dinners together. The Blue Jean community is a very small, cut throat and gossipy group….ahhh, those were the BIG party, money days. He was trying to grow Rock and Republic into a lifestyle brand like the Virgin Group and eventually borrowed money from people he thought were trusted friends who forced Rock and Republic into involuntary bankruptcy. Sad. He was the Rock star of designer jeans for a hot minute.

My favorite, now defunct brand, is Habitual. I buy vintage Habitual and still have some of my originals. I also have some vintage AGs before the AG pocket. AG used to have a ”w” on the pocket but lost a trademark infringement battle with Wrangler and had to get rid of their w jeans. I have one that the designers painted a LOVE and Butterfly on it so the w is indistinguishable. I believe all others may have been destroyed.

The old school designer jeans...I've had VB Rock/Republic, True Religion (was sooo obsessed with TR!), Citizens, 7FAM, AG, etc. Who remembers Paper, Denim and Cloth jeans? Back when these first came out, they were so pricey but had an amazing quality to them. Same thing with Earl Jeans...back when it was made in the US. Now it seems so many of these brands are cheaper quality, with spandex, and made in China...these are not the same jeans even though they have those labels.

Citizens jeans are still good as are AG. I really do feel that Khaite jeans have staying power-the quality is unmatched compared to all of the jeans I've bought in my lifetime! Which is a lot!

The Levi's at Costco aren't the same quality as you'll find in a Levi's store. If you want a high rise skinny, the 721's are the best fit, the 724 is a slim straight leg you can get full length or crop, and it's a zip fly. People are loving those right now.

I own a retail store. We used to sell R&R, True Religion and William Rast (that one inch zipper though) LOL R&R was my personal FAVOURITE brand. I noticed when they started investing in performance race cars that things weren't going to last. Too big, too soon. Same with WR So cool that you're in the "inner circle"

I doubt I'd pay FP for Levis. Rather look for premium jeans at a discount. As far as quality - if quality has to do with durability - I've worn premium jeans for years. Used to wear Paige and have JBrand, AG, etc. the only issue I've had was with the AG. They were distressed when new and eventually the rips got bigger and I had to patch them. They're good now.

Levi's are what? $100 (here in Canada) and premium denim (even at half price) is probably about $120-$150 (again CDN$) so it's what you like... I have a lot of denim. The newer (and of course vintage Levi's) are worth the cost. It's all personal styling, not really the cost (IMO)

Guess you could say I'm thrifty or cheap. I like to get stuff on sale. Probably one of my best purchases on jeans were my JBrand on sale at Bloomingdales. They cost more than most of my other jeans but I've been wearing them for years.
I've made several mistakes buying designer jeans at the consignment store - and they can't be returned of course. that store is gone now and I don't have the patience for thrift stores.
I bought a jacket at the Levis outlet store but didn't find any jeans there that fit me.

Levis' online and in store always have sales. Currently a 50% off sale..so yeah, you don't have to pay full price! I wouldn't buy (personally) the ones from Costco..that's the bottom of the barrel as far as Levi's quality goes.
Anyway, we all find what we like in the end.

thanks
I wouldn't buy online unless it was a style I'd worn before. jeans are too hard to fit. even the same style in the same size can vary from pair to pair.
someone on Posh has the JBrand jeans like mine NWT for a good price. I was tempted (measurements seem to be excactly like mine) except these have a darker stripe on the outsides of the legs so probably not

I just got a pair of the 724s...haven't worn them yet but them seemed good in the store :)

my DH commented last night that my 724s are the best jeans he's seen on me. and most of my other jeans are premium brands :)
