I just bought mine too and realized one hinge is tighter than the other. My mom’s hinges are both equal. They don’t bother me too much as my lobes are thin. Should I keep or exchange? My friend had a pair that one was tight and one not as tight.
What did you end up doing with your earrings? I really love the Clash mini earrings but this hinge issue keeps coming up. I hope Cartier does something about it.

Just to add to the hinge concern on the Clash huggies …one of mine is tighter than the other and because the other one is tight enough, I chose not to worry about it (and my awesome SA was unconcerned). Also, the distance is the same on both, it’s just that the hinge on one is a little stiffer. I have smaller lobes. I love these earrings, btw. So versatile and works for casual or a dressier look.

Thanks for giving an update on your experience with the Clash huggies! They look great on you :hbeat:

With the stiffness, does it just mean that the earrings are a little harder to open? I guess in some ways, that's not a bad thing?

@lilpikachu I found it to be a cumulative issue given I was removing them every night. Despite my best efforts, it was almost impossible not to pull on my piercing as I tried to get enough grip to force them open, which gave me sore ears, and meant I had to stop wearing them for a few days at a time. My exchanged pair does not have this issue.

Thanks so much for explaining in detail - having to wrestle every night with your earrings and having sore ears as a result does not sound fun at all.

I'm glad your exchanged pair are much easier to work with now! :yahoo:

That’s exactly my issue too! TBH I played with the tighter hinge to loosen it a bit and it’s fine now. But ur right. One was stiffer than the other but I decided to keep. Hahah

Thank you! Agree with you—not a bad thing. I feel like the stiffer one is less apt to open on its own which I have a little bit of concern about happening with the looser one. Luckily mine isn’t so tight to cause pain when removing, like @lilpikachu has experienced. I’ve worn them quite a bit without issue so my worries are fading.

I don't have these yet but @anabelle05 does and she unfortunately had the pain problem.

Thanks again everyone for sharing your experience with these earrings! I guess the solution is to play with the hinge until it is to your looseness liking but don't go overboard - thanks @vivaciousbev1

Same for me! One of the hinge is tighter and a little bit more difficult to open than the other But I can nevertheless open and close it quite easily and I don’t mind as long as the earrings are secured and that I can put them on and off without struggling… I would be more worried if one of the hinge was lose. The SA said that if it ever loses I can bring them back to be tightened.

That’s great to hear. I’m wearing it again today and I think I def loosened my hard to open hinge. I think because one side was so hard to open the other seemed so easy and flimsy which made me paranoid. But trying it on again today the looser one is secure. I think one of them was just too tight LOL. Were these your first pair or did you exchange?

Tbh I think I did go overboard and prob opened and closed them 100x in a day. It’s literally a fidget toy. But today still tight so quality is def there!

Forgot to note for whoever else is curious about the earrings- my one hinge was super tight but my moms were equally tight but easier to open (I would say medium tightness). My other side of mine was easier to open than my mom’s, but still needed to pull open. My friends apparently flung open with just a touch (but I was not there to try)

This is my first pair. I don’t mind the tighter hinge, my only concern was that the earrings could be worn daily and stay secured. I would be very sorry to lose one (or two!) 🥵

Does anyone have the XL clash bracelet? I tried on the XL Clash ring awhile back and loved the look, but I already have a lot of statement rings so I didn’t get it (still think about it though!).
