Clash Bracelet Broken Latch

I was just watching YouTube influencer, Tamara Kalinic. She came out with a video entitled, "Best and Worst purchases so far of 2022". Her clash bracelet was on the "worst list" due to a defective clasp- same issue!!

Thank you for sharing this. I will wear my clash without taking it off and then take it off here and there; I am always super careful when I take it off and put it on but now I am wondering if I should just keep it on my wrist more. Just to be safe.

Ah yes! Thank you for the video mine is the same thing clasp keep on opening. Cartier took my bracelet in and said it will take 2-3 weeks to repair they told me they are not really fully aware if there is any issue with the design but they will tighten it. They also took my other love bracelet as they have a newer lock mechanism and wanted to enhance it.

I finally got my 2 bracelets back and my SA told me they have put a new clasp on my clash and updated the screws on my love rainbow bracelet. Can't really tell the difference except it looks brand new. From now on if there's any issue I will just go to the store directly rather than contacting their online help. They guessing the constant taking it on and off wears the hinge faster but I dont do that as I am lazy and I just wear mine regardless what kind of activities I'm doing that day.

I'm glad Cartier was able to fix it for you! Did they charge you at all or was it still under warranty?
No charge at all for both bracelets. The clash is under a year old so that's for sure is under their warranty. The rainbow love bracelet I purchased it 5 years ago. My SA told me that they updated their screw mechanism just last year and they just took mine in with 0 charge. I know normally they charge around $300- 400. When I got home I did tested it just to see if I can tell any difference and I noticed that each turn it click till I can't turn it anymore. I also did a tug test and it feels really locked in. I did forgot to ask them though if they made any updates on the small love bracelet lock but then it was never really a concern for me as I never have any issue with mine

As for the clash I think they put a whole new lock all together ( top hinge and the clasp) I did a test on it as well and once I pressed it down I heard a soft click and I tried to pull it and run my fingers on the side couple of times to mimic a snag/ rub against something and it doesn't open anymore.

Thank you! I will probably going to fight them if they going to charge me anything as the bracelet is less than a year old. I already took some time to go to the city and get this look at which I was dreading to do to begin with hence I reached out to their online support 1st. Them upgrading the screws on my love was just a very nice gesture and I am very thankful for that but these bracelets should have not have any issue especially if its newer and people paid a lot of money to it.

I completely agree with you! I have the old screw system on my regular love and the new system on my thin love. thankfully, I have not had a problem but I can tell you that I have them both insured just in case- too risky!

If you happen to stop by at the cartier boutique just ask one of their SA about the new screw upgrade but try to pick the nicest one. From my experience sometimes this also depend on the SA you deal with- like in LV one SA charged me $420 for some glazing issue and the other boutique took it for free.

Thank you for sharing and glad they fixed it for you! Tamarah had the medium - yours is the small, correct? Do you remove it daily before sleep? I have never had issues with mine and am wondering if this is an issue with the design or just some off hand examples

Hi!!! Yes I do have the small one as the medium size look chunky on me plus with my other bracelets on. I also have a smaller wrist (size 15). And, no I never remove any of my bracelets I wear them 24/7 . My SA told me that after I brought in my bracelet for repair 2 more customers came in with the same problem. The issue with mine was not as bad with Tamara hers flaps around. Mine just opened on its on but the top part doesn't flaps around. From the 8 or 9 mos of owning it - it probably happened couple of times . But my last draw was when I was out the restaurant and the top part was wide open although the bracelet end part was still attached from each other. You can test yours if its loose by running your index finger on the side ( lock area) and do a slight flick upward (do this on both side and see if the top hinge open a bit) with the new repair mine doesn't budge.

Ah yes. That makes sense to go with the middle. My wrist is 14 and I also went with the small thought initially preferring the medium but felt it overpowered my juc. did you run it on the side end? If I flick it it does open but still feel solid. I wonder if it’s cause I wear it primarily alone it hasn’t happened to me? I see you wear it stacked and maybe it’s the movement from the other bracelets.

That's my initial thought as well and I told that to my SA. That maybe my other bracelet (love) is pushing it upward as it has a flat surface and he said no it shouldn't happen. He said that the only way the bracelet should open is when I slightly pry the little stud on the top. The hinged should not open or get unlock with a slight flick on the side. I have no issue with the end part of the bracelet (the actual lock ) that wasn't loose and still feel secured maybe that's the reason why it hasn't fall off my wrist. I have this on since I got it back from the repair and never have any issue. So, if you have any slight concern just take your bracelet to the store and have them check it.

Thank you. It does come unlocked from the side but I have to use pressure (not sure what is a slight flick or not LOL). Thanks for sharing as I also got mine around the same time you did. Oct of last year

Hahha I think its pushing it lightly upward. Notice how you can wiggle the studs except the part where the lock is - when you get to that part push it slightly upward with your nail or finger. Now if you do that and the top hinge open even slightly then you have the same issue as mine and that's the 1st thing I noticed which I just ignored and over time it got worse where the hinge open on its on but the lock part still securely attached. I can imagine as time goes by mine will end up like that lady from you tube.
