Hi I just found this thread and appreciate all the info shared. I moved this past year from Manhattan (I'm so missing the shopping...) to Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ. Does anyone have a good cobbler? I'm too paranoid to bring my shoes to just anyone.

I too want to thank everyone on here for great information. It never occurred to me to take my new shoes to the cobbler for rubber soles. I called my Neiman Marcus and asked who they would recommend and they gave me a person in our area where they send their customers CL's. I called the cobbler and he seemed super nice. He will have my shoes done in a couple of days!

DC/MD/VA ladies... Based on a recommendation from another TPFer, I had a few CL's resoled at Shoe Shoppe/Tailorcraft, which is located at Tysons Corner on Level 2 near Banana Republic. They have both kinds of Vibram (older 1.8mm and newer 1.0mm) as well as a different brand (not sure of the name), which is what I got because they didn't have the Vibrams in stock that day. This other one is also 1.0mm but has a lot more grooves than the Vibrams. The cobbler actually recommended these above the Vibrams.

They did a great job on the resoling itself. However, you should strongly emphasize that they be careful when using the black sharpie to color in the sides, especially if you are bringing in a lighter color shoe. Price is very reasonable, $25/pair. Turnaround time was a few days.

Hi ladies,
I'm about to purchase 6 pairs of vibrams from panrixx, I'm then planning to take them all to one of the Los Angeles based cobblers posted here (thank you all for that). My question is what is the average cost per pair of shoes if I take the vibrams to the cobbler?

Just want to give another thumbs-up to Santana Creative in Raleigh, NC.

I dropped 5 pairs off for "vibram" soling and also had them bring my 6+ year old Manolos back to life and they did a fabulous job. I'm incredibly happy with their work, customer service and cost. ($25 per pair for resoling in red and $5 for a clean and polish.) They also replaced a worn heel on a pair of Love Flats for me. Also, they DO NOT use Sharpies on the shoes, but this airbrush technique and it looks great.

Again, they use their own sole and I like it better than the Vibram. When I was picking mine up, they were actually packaging up 4 Jimmy Choos for a person in NYC, so they are a great resource for those who might not have a local place.

i cannot help, but please let me know as I am planning on bringing some there. was not pleased with a woodland hills location i brought mine too.
