Here's an older mousseline that came to me brand new a few months ago .
These older mousselines are more substantial and this has a lovely crisp feel.
It's Onde de Chic by Rybaltchencko , designed in 2005 I think , I'm not sure which year the mousseline came out.
If you look at the silk version there is the winged Zebra ,aka Zebra Pegasus!
Rybaltchenko got there first!

I hadn't realise that , but i always loved the fluidity of the design and when this mousseline came up it was a dream come true.
The combination of a flame red coral ground and the design in magenta gives an ambiguous tone to this .Is it red? Is it cerise? Is it change ant?
It's all of those . It's a very dominant scarf and it definitely likes to party!

It's lovely on you! Didn't know the older ones are more sturdy - I bought an unused turqoise/blueish Les Trois Feuilles 140, a few months ago and have nothing to compare it with. Does anybody know if that one, unkown year of issue, would be an older one? Besides, also bought a Peuples du Vent unused 140 changeant, soft and fluid as a spiders web, which I wear with my heart pounding, because I'm so scared to damage it. Can anyone please tell me about their experiences with changeantes - I have another under way, trembling in antipation :-)

One more like from me! Congrats frou frou, this is gorgeous on you!!!

Hopiko,thank you ! :flowers:

Eliwon, thank you for the comment , I need to wear this one more.
Your Trois Feuilles is a real find, I know the design but have never seen it in mousseline . Do post some photos!
The thread used to make the mousselines has been changed over the years , becoming finer and finer .[Intell from SA last week!]THis is to make the format more appealing for those in hot countries I was told.
The fuchsia Fantasies Indiennes I showed while back was much thicker and not so floaty .The design was shaded and coloured beautifully.
Current mousselines seem like little wisps and so I find it difficult to cough up the full retail price ,although they are lovely and ethereal . A tpf friend pointed out how much more detailed in terms of depth and shading the older ones are.
Mine are all completely different in every respect , Axis Mundi changeant from 3 or 4 years ago is billowy and soft with lots of detail , the red Onde de Chic is crispy and not so billowy , my Polo de Bagatelle stole is different again, very soft and quite thick .

Thanks so much frou frou for a kind and informative answer. Trying for the first tome to upload two pics from my IPhone. The Feuilles goes well with my Trim II, 31 cm ai think. Trying to show the changeant in the other pic, difficult back lighting here atm.
Lucky you snagging the Onde - have a 90 silk in the palest of blue with grey pattern but would love it as a moussie :-)

eliwon, I just L[emoji7]VE your Peuples du Vent!! This is on my "some day" wishlist!! Congrats!

I have 10 or so moussies, ranging from vintage to current season and... Yep, they all seem to have their own "personalities" as frou frou mentioned below.

What is for sure (from my personal experience), is that the older moussies definitely have a "thicker" or more "sturdy" hand feel.

Given that, I still love them all for their individuality and couldn't say whether "old" or "new" is better/worse if we are discussing hand feel or how they tie. But, again as dear frou frou so perfectly describes, the design detail in the older mousses seem to be "deeper/richer", while current offerings are more delicate and ethereal.

This is my experience as well, frou frou. Your description is spot on![emoji106] I consign everything you've said here and couldn't have described it better myself! [emoji6][emoji4]

frou frou, this is very informative! interesting re H using finer threads. i was born in a hot country - everyday is 35C without fail - and no one will wear anything on their neck no matter how fine the thread is!! most will wear long sleeve or cardigan indoors with air-conditioning but not a scarf...wonder if this fine thread strategy had worked though given that H is churning out less and less mousselines each year and most stores don't really order loads of them either. Japan is the only country where I saw many mousselines in stores..

i only started buying mousselines a few years ago and they were all wispy and floaty..then i bought a few from years ago and they definitely feel different, thicker and sturdier as you have said above. but i prefer the feel of the newer ones though...

It's always fascinating seeing an older mousseline , my favourite thread for tracking back to the beginnings of the format!

Chincac, thinking about travelling in humid subtropical climates I can imagine even a mousseline would be too much .
I think I misquoted the SA, she actually said the thinner mousseline was introduced so that they would be nicer to wear in warm weather , I don't think we have much of a problem with over heat :confused1: here so I extrapolated the answer somewhat inaccurately!

Thank you do much for your kind words StyleEyes - I just love neutral colours bordering on sludgy, so this one fits the bill as colours go. In general I'm not too keen on scarves showing people for some unkown reason, but here they just blend into the mud :-). Thanks for your insight re. the silk quality itself, the variations are part of the charm I guess!

Dear frou frou - you had me stumped there - jumped out of bed to check in the dark :-) - no, the three middle leaves are turqoise with a darker outline - always liked the 90'ies in various CWs but the backgrounds have been a bit too white for me (pale, mousy Nordic complexion), so apart from loving moussies the all over colour was another reason for getting this one.
