Dear mousse girls! I am so happy to join your club. I had no mousse on my radar, but as soon as I walked in to the boutique it was love at first sight!:loveeyes:! I spotted her from way across the boutique and was just instantly taken. For a blue, denim, and white lover this is really beautiful. It still seems quite delicate to me at the moment, but I do love how airy it feels. Are they more durable than you might think?

Thank you for allowing me to share my excitement with each of you! I have just started browsing this thread, but I have a lot of 'looking' to do! You all have so many amazing pieces.

Beautiful! I have this one in dark blues and greens, it is a changeant. They are much more durable than you would think, my SA says they are more sturdy that the CSGMs.

Gorgeous! Congrats and welcome to the club! Here's to many more future chiffon acquisitions.

Re: durability, I've found the following to be true, although others may have different experiences:

1. My changeants are more delicate than the non-changeants.

2. Pre-2011 mousselines are markedly tougher than the new ones; there's a very clear difference in their hand. I don't worry when wearing the older ones. The new ones I'm much more careful with. These days I frequently see them in the boutiques with white rub marks already. Sad but true! Still, I do think that they're tougher than the cashmeres, and as long as you aren't cavalier with them, you'll do just fine.

I've sought a mousseline version of this design for some time now. This one was described as orange, but really it is gold with the most lovely blue periwinkle letters. L'Art d'Ecrire by M. Tranchant.

Twin!!! Isn't the best blue combo ever!
In overall, mousse is quite sturdy but the hand really varies from colorway to colorway, from design to design. IMO, two key things about mousse, though: unlike cashmere shawls, mousses are not water/rain-friendly, and damages, like hole, pulls, to them once made are mostly not mendable due to thin threads and tighter weaves than cashmere.

Another winner, Lanit. The mousse ties so well and the yellow is a warm shade, too.

Calexandre, thank you for your warm welcome and great info! It is so amazing to think of this delicate beauty as stronger than my CSGMs! Very reassuring to know! I baby all of my pieces, so hopefully no problems:graucho:! Maybe in the future I will hunt for a pre 2011 piece. Good tip!!

You are right, the best blues! Thank you so much for your tips! I wonder what everyone does with them if they, heaven forbid, do get get a hole? I will remember about the rain too. Great stuff to know! Thanks!

Welcome to the mousse world, dear Vitamina H! :D You certainly started with a total beauty!! :cloud9: The perfect holiday moussie which will give you a summer holiday feeling also when it will be cold and rainy again. Enjoy!!

My moussies are all very sturdy and uncomplaining! ;)

I wonder what everyone does with them if they, heaven forbid, do get get a hole?
If the hole is in solid color area, you can try Invisible mending services (can be found in big cities like Milan, London, and New York). What it does is that it takes fiber threads from hidden parts of the fabric and weaves into the hole area. I haven't tried one yet so no reviews.
If the hole is in a busy pattern area of the mousse, you can have your boutique send it to Paris for repair (there are charges for repair), but there's no guarantee Paris can repair at all, or repair with great results...

Such a pretty blue mousse!!

Lovely!!

Thank you sbelle!

Thank you dear ladies - I do treasure mousselines and this design. The colorway is subtle but versatile with blues and cream. It looks great with my white dresses too. HfromT - it is definitely your colorwheel. LadyB - have missed you. Hope your summer is going well!
