Cher's daughter Chastity Bono to undergo sex change

It's a difficult concept to imagine, but I believe that someone who does this was genetically meant to be the sex they are "changing" into...so their happiness in life may depend on it. I hope we continue to be open-minded and loving to people that deal with this...

I guess if it makes her (him) happy! I noticed they said "him" in the article so that's probably how he thinks of himself. It does seem very complicated to me too. I would think Cher would support whatever her daughter needs to do to be happy.
All I keep seeing in my mind though, is little Chastity on the sonny & cher show. She was absolutly adorable.

^^ OMG I was thinking the SAME thing!!! I used to watch it every Sunday night when I was a kid...she was too cute!! I loved when they would bring her out at the end of the show!!

I have also read that Cher's son is a crossdresser. Seems like there is a lot of confusion when your Mom is Cher! I wonder if she'll change her name?

I wish him luck in his decision. This is a very emotional subject for transgendered persons - usually something they have struggled with their entire lives. I hope he finds happiness and peace in this decision.

I find this whole topic confusing and can't understand it. Better that than being someone who feels like they're the wrong sex, I suppose. It must be hard for everyone involved. Certainly the person doing it and probably their family too. I also remember seeing clips of her as a little girl. Absolutely adorable! My have a little girl and I am sure I'd be utterly devastated if she came up to me and told me something like this. Hopefully, I'd have the strength to support her. I also wonder how Cher feels?

Exactly!! Lol...and then I'm thinking if he still wants to be considered gay after the change, then he'll have to start dating men. The whole thing is a mess I tell ya.

He used to be a woman attracted to women and now he's going to be a man attracted to women.


I figure he'll just define himself the way he wants to be defined.

I think of it like this: For most people, if they're unhappy about something on their body they get it changed (bigger/smaller boobs, tummy tuck . . . . ). They get the surgery, they heal and they're happy with the results.


For a transgender, it's not one thing on their body, it's everything. It's all of it.

The idea that there are people out there who feel trapped in their own bodies is just heartbreaking.
