Cheap Clothing, Expensive Handbags

Today my best friend just said the same question as this, I like to spend money on handbags because I really really enjoy it, so when she and I passed by I invited my girl friend to go with me into a Chanel store because recently I want to get another bag that I have my eyes on it for a while, then she refused it nicely said" I wear tee shirt that is under 100 bucks, I am not gona carry that bag." Well I don't really understand why do these related. In my opinion, as long as you dress up clean, tidy and properly in a good sense of asthetics, spurge your money on bags shoes accessories or cars whatever it doesn't matter as long as the things you spend money on please you.

She probably just prefers having everything she owns to be at a relatively equal level of quality without splurging in any particular area, seems practical to me!

I agree with you. Also I have never bought a T-shirt that cost anything close to $100!!

Me too. Not that I would ever pay 100.00 for a t shirt, but I understand what she's saying. I personally wouldn't buy a Chanel flap bag, even if I could afford one because it doesn't fit my lifestyle. I think they're beautiful, but a bag like that would look totally out of place at my job and I don't go out anywhere for entertainment where it would fit in, either.

Same here. I would feel so out of place wearing a Chanel bag at this point in my life. I also live in a middle to upper class area but everyone dresses very boring and granola. I would feel so awkward haha...though I did see someone over here in a Givenchy Antigona which is rare for this area.

Overall, I like quality pieces but I don't spend a ton on clothing. I would rather spend money on jewelry, handbags, and shoes. I would go to the GAP, Old Navy, H&M, Nordstrom Rack, or Marshalls to save on pieces instead of splurge. Clothing gets worn down eventually so I don't go all out for it.

people tend to bundle together 'designer' and 'quality' some designers, especially diffusion lines are just money spinners, poor quality and made in questionable circumstances.

This!
It's not just diffusion lines , even the majority of the midrange brands are of very poor quality,

In the UK , the White company do good affordable basics and knitwear , they are not Loro piana standards for example but if I was given the choice between them and other designer diffusion lines would alway choose TWC,

You can wear £20 t shirt with a £4000 hermes bag , and still look fabulous and put together, as long as fabric/ cut/ size are all good.

It's wise to invest in everyday wear, T shirts, jeans, shirts, you wear these items constantly and they should hold up longer,

I invest in bags because I love them, I invest in shoes because my feet were designed by the devil.

I read this and my tea almost came flying out of my mouth because I was laughing so hard!!😂😂😂😂

Our feet must be cousins! 9 out of 10 shoes are a no go because of fit - I refuse to have shoes that hurt / gape / fit oddly in any way. But, all flats (unless they are sneakers or sandals) hurt my heels no matter how expensive they are. 😖 Yet, I have a narrow heel which likes to slip out of shoes. How does this make sense?!

And that last 1 of of 10? Most of them aren't an option because of style. I greatly prefer to wear high heels everywhere... and, I like gorgeous, interesting shoes... and I live in the fashion starved US Midwest.

So, I have to hunt great shoes with a steely eye and the soul of a warrior.

Generally designers promote their bags and SLG s more than their actual clothes. - much easier to sell. Clothes have become a sideline for most designers, they make their money in perfumes and accessories. I've come to the conclusion, that bags and clothes wear out, or go out of fashion- so for me they need to be reasonable well sourced, (no sweat shops) and within the same cost/quality bracket. That doesn't mean actually cost the same, but they need to be of comparable high finish, quality material and good fit.

This is my first post here; hello everyone! This topic was actually also the one that made me to register to this site.
I buy lots of expensive clothes as well, maybe more than bags. It makes sense because it's possible to wear the same bag continuously while clothes need to be changed so often. Therefore, I need more clothes than bags. :D I own clothing from Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana etc. I love the quality! However, almost every brand seems to have some great things and some horrible ones. I have seen lots of simple designer t-shirts or tops that look exactly as cheap and poorly-made that some in Primark do.

We need to team up on the shoe hunt. I have a narrow heel and walk out of most shoes. I too cannot wear flats. Go figure. Because of this, I have a collection of Valentino Rockstud pumps. Fabulous!
I found one brand of pumps I can wear without walking out of them, which is very embarrassing. Gianvito Rossi. You must try them! Let me know if you want pics or any info.
