Hey guys so I'm heading to fort Lauderdale and I was wondering if anyone knows where the best deals are for there. I am coming from Canada so anything is better then our prices but I wanted to know if I was better off going to the outlets or if macys is the way to go. Please help !

I live here! Definitely stop by the Sawgrass Mills Mall!!!! It's an outlet mall with some regular stores. They have Coach, Michael Kors, Burberry, Ralph Lauren, David Yurman, Juicy Couture....just to name a few. Also, the Dolphin Mall, is more south but no extremely far, is an outlet mall as well and also has Coach, Michael Kors etc

Outlet bags, although nice, don't offer the same value as the retail bags. They often are missing the extras, i.e., feet, piping etc

You are better off buying a retail bag on sale IMHO.

I've never shopped at a Michael Kors outlet myself but I've heard they don't have separate products for the outlet only. Some brands do, do that such as Coach but I usually just go there to get the deals on the end of season items. So, can't really categorize all outlets with having bad quality compared to retail value and honestly most bags are way over priced. I'd actually rather get a gently used item and pay way less than pay full price for anything!

I would really like to buy a Michael Kors Selma bag in black bc it's exactly what I'm looking for, plain and sophisticated to match anything. It will be my first Michael Kors purchase. I havn't been to the outlet here lately. Has anybody been to one recently? I'm going tomorrow but I just can't wait an I don't want to be disappointed. Last time I went the sales weren't that great to me and I wasn't looking for anything. It was my first time going in the store just to see what they had and if their prices compared to Coach. I wasn't impressed by the styles so I didn't get anything.

But now im in love with this Selma bag!!!!!! :hbeat: Does anybody know of any sales where I can get it around the $225 range????? $358 seems WAAAY too expensive for such a small bag! I bought the HUGE Park Metro Tote in saffiano leather from Coach for only $150 with tax!! I know Michael Kors is popular but sheesh!!!! Ive searched everywhere online and nobody has Michael Kors on sale and if they do its only like 25% off! :crybaby:

I didn't categorize them as bad quality. I wrote they were nice but don't have the extras that the MK handbags sold in retail stores have.

I know this because I've been to the outlet myself many times and they sell a number of bags that I've never seen in the retail store. These bags are nice, but they don't have things that I prefer, i.e., feet on the bag, piping around the slip pockets, etc.

So, can't really categorize a post by another user as calling outlet bags as "bad quality" when that's not what was written....especially when you yourself cannot attest unequivocally one way or the other to the quality of said such bags when you've never been to a MK outlet.

You mentioned outlets don't offer the same value which means they aren't as great as the retail stores and I was just stating what I heard and I do know some outlets do not make special products just for their "outlet" stores. I have been in a MK outlet but I didn't shop there I just did a quick walk around. I'm not a shopper of stores. I go knowing what I want, get it and leave.

Outlets do sell their own styles that aren't sold in boutiques just like Coach sells MFF (made for factory). MK has some boutique styles that show up to outlets (just as Coach has deletes that go). Someone said MK didn't have this but they do.

I can get boutique bags at better deals at department stores than outlet styles at MK outlet. I feel boutique styles are sometimes different quality but that's my opinion and we are all entitled. The outlet Hamiltons made for them have no locks and keys for example. The Jet Set zip top has different color handles from rest of bag on outlet styles. I could go on but won't. You can't know for sure without going.

Outlet styles are also sold at TJ Maxx. I personally haven't seen boutique styles at TJ .

I agree, I think you get better deals with department stores.
The Hamilton is my favorite MK style and I went to my local outlet last week and only saw the MFF version (at one point they carried both).
I've seen both MFF and boutique bags at my TJ Maxx.

I didn't mean to start a war here. I HAVE been to outlet stores and not only an MK one. I was speaking of all outlets in general including clothing outlets! Like I said I didn't buy anything at the MK outlet when I went and I am keeping everyone's comments in mind when I go tomorrow I will check it out. I do appreciate your opinions that's the whole point of this forum. I was just speaking for all outlets in general. There may be people on here who have never been to one and see comments abt how they are so different and turn them off to never going to one when actually it's not that bad especially if you don't want to pay full price.

The purse convo was just a misunderstanding. That aside, I'd like to ask you a couple questions abt a woman such as yourself in the electrical engineering career. I'm finishing up my school right now for electrical engineering and I have lived in Charleston, SC before & loved it. My mom still lives in the area. If you would like to talk please let me know how we can have that convo elsewhere more appropriate. Thank you :smile1:

I have a question about the Macys F&F sale. Is it all the Michael kors selma on sale or it's varies? I'm mostly eyeing for the medium selma. Not sure what color I want.

Thank you.

Nacey, there is no war here. :smile1: Just individuals posting their opinions and experience on a subject. It's all good.

I think it's been an interesting conversation so far. That's what I love about tpf. Lots of conversations and opinions.
