It's real snakeskin but buyers in some states can't buy the bag. (I believe python is illegal in California.)
It is illegal for retailers to sell it but it isn't illegal to buy, so Californians can buy it on ebay.
Most of the simulated python actually says embossed leather in the description on Coach.com and the real stuff says real python, but on the Pinnacle colorblock erin, the description just said python trim. The creed doesn't mention it so I wonder whether it is real or not.

Hmm. "With intent to sell or to sell" but what if someone purchased and changed mind and decided to flip?

(a) It is unlawful to import into this state for commercial purposes, to possess with intent to sell, or to sell within the state, the dead body, or any part or product thereof, of any polar bear, leopard, ocelot, tiger, cheetah, jaguar, sable antelope, wolf (Canis lupus), zebra, whale, cobra, python, sea turtle, colobus monkey, kangaroo, vicuna, sea otter, free-roaming feral horse, dolphin or porpoise (Delphinidae), Spanish lynx, or elephant.

Selling your used bag on ebay I don't think would be considered for commercial purposes. If Ebay wanted to, they could block sales to California, but they don't. If the seller isn't a commercial entity and isn't in California, I don't think they are bound by the laws of California.

I'm still new but I'm allowed to post now - please forgive me and let me know where I should post this kind of stuff, I've read the rules but still a little confused!

I bought a Kristin wristlet over the weekend from ebay, and am trying to figure out if the Kristin North South zippered tote just posted is the same color. I can't even figure out what year they are from, and I know coach has called different colors "coral."

The wristlet is: NWT KRISTIN Leather Large Wristlet~Coral~45104 on ebay but haven't gotten it yet - here is the listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/290698488102?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

The tote is: Kristin Leather North South Zippered Tote 18298 B4/CO Coral Authentic NWT Here is the URL: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Krist...965?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item256fb2f0bd

One other question - when I use Search, I may get directed to a topic with 100 replies, even when I list something pretty specific. Is there a way to search so that you pull up the post with your search terms in it?

grateful thanks from newbie!

okay, when you select search, on the pull down tiny menu there are 2 options, one is show threads, the other is show posts. Select show posts.
And, the 2 coral items that you purchased are exactly the same color! Beautiful!

Oh, I see now that you only purchased one of the coral pieces. They do match! I have the coral hobo and I love it!

Help me out!!! I got a plum patent wallet and a embossed Abigail last week from Gilroy. I believe they both are returns from the Feb finds. The prices are really attractive. $220 for the embossed Abigail and $50 for the wallet. However, the metallic leather trim has faded a bit around the zipper area. Unlike deep scratches on the outside of the bag, the fading is towards the inner top area, only the user will notice it. And somehow the wallet has a different shade of plum color on her back. Since patent leather reflects light, it is not noticeable unless you look at it side way. I need recommendation/suggestions. What will you do? Do you think I can find the same pieces at the outlets again. On the day I went, they were the last piece... Thank you very much.

All retailers, whereever situated, do have to be bound by California's laws if they ship into the state. And most retailers know not to ship python into California.

And btw, if you report an auction to Ebay where the seller is in California and they are selling a python item, Ebay WILL remove the auction.

Also California Fish & Game are VERO members and have been known to report auctions - and worse.

Illegal means you cannot sell python in the state of California. There is no exception for used items.

WTH???? :weird: ...I must admit that the bidding war with the zero feedback "new" buyer has me concerned to say the least!

That just doesn't look right to me either!

Something might be fishy about it being a zero feedback bidder that kept bumping up the price.

I was looking at that too and it looks like shill bidding to me. If I won it I would not pay that price and would ask Ebay to investigate.
It wasn't shill bidding. It's just a case of a newbie bidder who doesn't understand proxy bidding. If you look at the automatic bids, the 333-feedback bidder put in a high bid early on and the newbie was bidding in minimum increments.

I do find this a bit curious though: Is it probable that the seller had 2 of the identical bag? She sold this one on April 12:

ETA: It looks like the April 12 winner was NPB.
