Charge it! Need advice :=)

Ask yourself if you are still going to love the bag while you are paying it off, and for months or even years after paying it off. Once you charge that first big-ticket item it is so easy to keep on going as your credit limit increases. Stay disciplined - cap your limit on the card so that the cost of the bag is equal to or just slightly lower than the limit. I made a mess of my credit cards and am working VERY hard to pay them off. I'm not yet ready to sell a beloved bag, but if it reached the point where I wasn't meeting my living expenses while paying off the debt I incurred, I would sell whatever I had to and start over.

Twinklette,

Since you don't have a Credit Card yet, I am not sure if you will be able to get one with very low interest rate. Unless interest is extremely low, I suggest selling Silverado (you disliked it not fitting on your shoulder) for Turquoise City (you like it more right?). Interest (even up to 6 months) can really add up.

I always hate trying to give advice on these questions b/c we don't really know your whole financial picture. If you have a great job, an IRA, savings, home, etc., then you would just be using the CC to avoid disrupting your budget (which already has savings built in??) so no harm in taking a short term loan til July. If you're younger or truly living paycheck to paycheck -- even if living well, lol -- then maybe the stress of the debt is really not worth it.

I'd love a thousand dollar bag right now...but would rather keep more extra money in savings in case a fabulous travel opportunity or even, god forbid, an emergency or something comes up. This said through, everyone's priorities are different so maybe this is your fabulous oppty:-)

I say get the bag....but I've never spent 1k on a bag
well not yet ;)
Honestly, I don't think it's that bad to carry that amount over a couple months.
Take that back!!!!
DO NOT LISTEN TO ME!!

I accrued about $4500 in debt last summer planning my wedding
now I have it down to about $2000. SO i am trully the last person to give advice on this bcuz i would buy the purse and not think twice about it
