Changing a pendant to a ring or different setting

I have decide to keep the pendant as it is for now. I feel I am still young enough to wear the heart at the moment. When the time comes where I feel I am past the heart surround, I plan on changing it to a bezel set square amethyst. I plan to change the chain in the near future though. Still trying to figure out all the different chain names though.

I have purchased 3 different pieces of jewellery just this month so I am on a ban.

google necklace chain image and you should see them, box and rope are the most common but the beads and bar is not as much. Try etsy.com, there are some UK sellers there too, they are small shop (usually 1 person) so can price better.
