Changing a pendant to a ring or different setting

I've attached images of the pendant on top of my silver stacking ring. What do you think? Are my fingers too fat to pull a dainty ring off?

I think I prefer the stone set square on as opposed to the diamond shape.
I def think your fingers are not fat at all! I think the beauty of the stone is shown much more in the ring form and I like the bezel set style! I vote ring! I think it will look beautiful.

I can't make my mind up. I am thinking if I keep as it is will I make more of an effort to wear it? If I change it to a ring (14K white gold) will I wear it or will that be kept in a drawer?

I'm thinking in years to come if my fingers swell or change size the ring will be unwearable.

What do you think?

I tend to stay away from ring for the same reason as you said

I phoned the jewellers today regarding the 14K ring price. The ring is £180 for a tiny bit of gold around the stone and a silver band. I feel this is slightly overpriced as I could get a 9K ring already done for that price. Decisions, decisions. If it's not getting worn now who's to say it will if I change it. Will I regret it. I am thinking I may get rid of it but I don't know.

I have been experimenting with different length chains.

The first one is on the gold 18inch curb chain and the second is on a silver 16 inch chain layered with my other pendant I received for my 21st.

Which chain length looks best?

Would it be worthwhile purchasing a gold chain or silver chain for it?

I like the 18 inch better. Also vote for gold (white) chain as to me there is a visible diff between sterling and white gold. The sterling will have a whiter finish, while the white gold has a softer, more greyish sparkle.

I also think your jeweler is overcharging you big time for resetting the stone into a silver and gold ring and would suggest if you were seriously considering the ring option to maybe get a quote from someone else.

I agree, maybe someone else can give you a better price? + I really love the look of it as a ring :smile1: it's super cute!

Would you keep it on the chain in the first picture or change the chain?

I'm trying to think which other jewellers would do this as most where I live are commercialised and not independent jewellers.

Thanks.

Is the amethyst better set in white gold, yellow gold or silver?

18 inch chain looks better on you than 16 inch. Can you trade in current chain to offset some of the cost? I'd go for at least 14k white gold, so you can share the chain with the second pendant as well.

If you decide to set it on a ring, will you wear it daily or occasionally? I am concern about how the high profile ring will hold up on daily wear, can you wear it at work (if you are working that is, some places don't allow ring but are okay with necklace), and if you mind purple clash with some nail polish colors:p Keep the square set with curve pointing outward if you plan to wear it occasionally.

I do prefer the 18" length chain. I don't know the names of the different types of chain so some help would be appreciative as to what would look best for both pendants.

Regarding the ring, I don't wear nail polish so no clash there. I don't wear much in the way of purple and I think this may be the reason why I don't wear the pendant as often as I should. The ring would be worn when I'm going out only. So probably minimum of 3 days a week. I don't understand curve pointing out wards.

I would change to a fine white gold rolo chain...something simple and delicate. Or, if u wear more yellow gold than white, then a yellow gold chain. If u didn't want to do the ring, you could always consider resetting the amethyst to a bezel like the ring u like. I think it would showcase the stone. And as for every day wear, I have a relative who loves amethysts and wears an amethyst pendant every day, regardless of what she is wearing. It is sort of her signature now.

Is a belcher or trace chain similar to the rolo chain? I think the bezel set amethyst would be nice. I may consider that.
