hi. So the “pre order” your are referring to is not from Chanel boutiques. It’s is department stores that have Chanel. Some of these Chanel boutiques are independent and not leased by Chanel, so they go by slightly different rules. This is why they allow certain customers to preorder even before the actual BUY happens for that particular store.
Personal shoppers and resellers have the ability to actually dictate which items that store orders based on these “pre orders”.
All of this will be changing very soon as Chanel is taking 100% control of all of their boutiques going forward. This will hopefully create more of a level playing field.

You will still be able to get on reserve list for these items with your Chanel boutique sales associate! They follow more rules there and don’t share their buy or books until a little further down.

I would contact your Chanel SA with pictures of what you are interested in anyway..it’s really never too early !

Chanel boutique has not opened their reserve list for spring act 2 yet. I was told it is open for 21c right now. But like u said never too late to out your wish list out to a trusted SA

Chanel boutiques do have a pre-order window, but it works differently from dept stores. its not offered to everyone and not everything is available, only selected pieces from the runway.
its different from reserve lists which is only later on closer to the collection, and even then not all boutiques globally do reserve lists, and full payment isn't required beforehand.

It was my first time preordering a bag, but this was my experience when I reached out to a SA yesterday to see if I could preorder the beige iridescent mini rectangular (which btw is apparently in calfskin not lambskin!). The reason why I even reached out to her is because said she sent out a blast that she was only taking preorders within a 48 hour window, and that confirmed preorders would require a 50% deposit. My preorder isn't confirmed though - so I'm waiting on confirmation which then the 50% deposit would be charged to my cc. I also saw some personal shoppers on Instagram saying that this 48 hour window is the period where boutiques submit their buy orders to Chanel corporate for what they want as their stock for any particular collection. That's a first I've heard of this, but again, my first experience preordering was only yesterday. My NM SA stated that she hasn't gotten the books yet for 21SS.

I personally think I was just lucky to have been notified by her that she was taking preorders for 21SS, otherwise I wouldn't have known about preordering as I too usually just call around (or precovid I would actually go into the boutique to see what's in stock lol) and ask if something is in stock.

That's super disappointing ): Unfortunately I'm still looking to make my first Chanel purchase so I have no SA connections but I will try to go in store soon to connect with one. I'm hoping they can put me on the list for this beauty!

Edit: Just realized this but 21P is the season right before 21S, isn't 21P time for reissues and not classic flaps?
