I understand what you are saying especially when you haven't seen it in person. I remember the dark caramel from 2016 made in caviar. I found it to be too dark from my liking but the upcoming one looks to be in the medium tone range but you never know. Buying Chanel shouldn't give us so much anxiety. You have to make a decision, sometimes on the spot or else it will be sold and then you are out of your item. Hang in there and you are not alone. Lol. :lol:

After my friend said it reminded her of the 'poo poo' color, I can't unsee it now. It is an internal struggle, I liked it at first but after that comment, I can't. I need to see the gold and brown/caramel/tan in person. It seems like everyone is after that brown color. Fear of FOMO is real. Lol.

My SA tries to tell me it's the color of "Thai milk tea" and I'm like, don't ruin Thai tea for me too! :lol:

Hi All! Does anyone know the product code for the white caviar iridescent SHW flap bag w/top handle and which stores/boutique will have it? Also, how far in advance do dept stores know what they will be getting for a season? TIA!

Oh, bag-wish-sisters in mind :biggrin::wave: I'm curious to get this info, too... this one looks sooo beautiful:love: also, apparently there will be a white mini without the handle, though not iridescent I think... one of these two I want to buy. Hopefully it's a true white, not a creme or ivory tone... and that the white Mini without the handle has shw, too

That color is beautiful! Could someone explain to me the difference between preorders and reserve lists and waitlists? I have three Chanel bags (two classic pieces and one seasonal piece), and I have somehow just lucked out getting them. So this whole list thing is new to me.

This is just my understanding from my own experience with stand alone, leased and non leased boutiques in department stores. It may differ for others since as we all know, there’s rarely one solid, definite answer for Chanel :)

Preorder: SA actually has on order the item in question and expects it within a fairly short time frame. Your payment info is taken and actually charged. Then it’s just the waiting game for the item to arrive.

Waitlist/Reserve: These are used interchangeably a lot of times. For me, reserve means that I actually have a spot for the item. For instance, the SA knows there are 2 units of an item coming in, and I am 1 of the 2 names on the reserve list. Prior to this year, payment info wasn’t required but now it’s taken but not charged. It’s immediately charged when the item arrives to the boutique so the SA can secure it for you. Waitlist to me means you’re not guaranteed the bag. That means if there are 2 units coming in, then I am waitlisted if I am not guaranteed 1 of the 2 units. The SA doesn’t bother taking your payment info for this. Usually these two terms are used the same way and mostly applies for future collections.

I am not sure I understand the entire system either. Just based on my experience from boutique and NM, they both use a waitlist system and you don’t pay until the item arrives. So I reach out to my SA to see what’s available for each season and ask her to put me on waitlist for items I am interested. I noticed that depending on the store and the SA (or your relationship with the SA...), the timing of when you know what’s available for each store differs.

I think preorder is when the boutique is ordering something that’s not on their “buy” but just for a customer (I assume this customer would have a good relationship with this store/SA). I heard SAK uses preorder and you have to pay a deposit for items you want, but I am not familiar with this.

Waitlist is for items that are very popular. I found it’s very hard to get mini’s without reserving 1-2 season ahead.
