Chanel Spring/Summer 2021 Act 1 (21P)

I have been shopping and buying Chanel for years and I am not even close to VVIP status. However, I have worked with a couple of dedicated SAs over the years so it has helped slightly to get some things. One thing I dislike about putting a deposit is that you don't get to see what you are buying and that is why I never accept this method of payment to secure an item. It is really risky to pay for something you haven't seen in person because you accept the item as is. I am not sure which country you are from but in Canada, you only get a store credit or an exchange. I am not a big fan of holding x,xxx in store credit so that does not work for me. The days of choosing the best from the batch no longer exists for regular customers. Maybe VVIP status members get to pick and choose the best of the batch. I am wondering whatever they do not want, is this passed on to the regular customer? I am sad as I am writing this. I've looked at other brands but it doesn't interest me as Chanel does. Yes, very sad as I will continue to buy and I will have to manage my expectations of the declining quality.

Normally they could keep the bag for few days but by that time i could not make it less than 1 week time hence the deposit. Without the deposit, if another buyer walks in and seriously want to buy the bag, i'd be forced to put deposit or worse if my SA isn't contactable, the bag would just be passed on to that person. I just do it this once since i'm eyeing for 2 bags so i thought either one would suffice for the deposit. I do feel with the deposit system, we are rushed to buy the item blindly but couldnt do much perhaps until the demand of Chanel dwindling down by lot. All my budget for bags is focused on Chanel too.

Also i asked my SA of how to be the VVIP and it equals to the amount of shopping of 7 or 8 M/L classic flaps (current price) within a year *gasp. I forgot to ask, do we need to maintain the amount for the subsequent years or not. This is easily achieved if you're a reseller hence you could see from their accounts, they'd get access to hard to get bags.

I was looking at a square mini (21P) that happened to be on the shelf and the flap was noticeably misaligned. One side was lower than the other. I gently pushed the sides in on the bag to try to even out the misalignment but I couldn't. I spent a good 5 seconds when I thought why am I doing this? Shouldn't quality control have handled this first before shipping to the store? My SA agreed with me that it was noticeably misaligned and I jokingly said to her that someone will buy it. I do feel sorry for the new Chanel customers that have not built up their Chanel collection as they will grab whatever bag they can get. I will say that the lambskin these days have a coating so it appears more sturdier but since this seems to be a new process on lambskin, we don't know how it will age. Yes, buyer beware and we (customers) have to check the bag, hardware, popped stitch, etc in its entirety. It is not only the chain we have to look at it but everything about the bag. Agreed, these bags are expensive and the prices will continue to go up in the upcoming years.

I like to see this problem on square mini, the flap does not align with the body, so one side of the body would protrude. This shouldnt happen if the structure of the bag is more rigid like in vintage. Once i saw the SA hanging them on display with the chain longer on 1 side for decor purpose and when they took it down for me to see, there it is,the misaligned flap straight away.

In order to secure your item, I guess the only alternative is to pay a deposit or you risk losing your item to the next customer. I do understand this as it isn't a risk you are prepared to take. I've told my SA that I was uncomfortable with this type of payment and she is very understanding. I agree with the deposit system, you are quite pressured to buy on the spot and also to give the sale to the SA. I feel that you even overlook those slight flaws just to secure your item. Nothing is perfect with Chanel.

You raise a good point about resellers buying all the stock that it is easy for them to achieve VVIP status. It is deplorable that they scooped up all the 21P caramel and gold bags.

Do you mean requirement for the deposit? I think it would be different with each SA. I only have 1 local boutique here. The 21P caramel SA suggested deposit after the bag has arrived, another SA asked deposit when she listed my name and the other SA's i've dealt with never ask any deposit BUt i did not get the bag too at the end. I think they ask the deposit if they also feel confident they could secure the bag.

The rose clair for 21P is warmer toned compared to 21C rose clair. In person, the color shows up mainly beige to me with light peach pink accents. She's also fully leather lined! I'm in love! I just bought mine not too long ago! I got mine from NM Houston and they received only one (at that time) and since I inquired about this in October, I was the first one on the waitlist! According to my SA, the waitlist for this bag was really long (in Houston anyways) so I bought it once it came in! I took pics in natural light because artificial light isn’t good enough!

So I was able to see seasonal flap (are we calling it the sweet flap? I know the smaller is the sweet mini, but I don't know about the larger sizes) and try it on in boutique! It really is beautiful, and I think it's the perfect navy. The aged gold hardware really compliments it. It can also crossbody comfortably (I'm 5'7") which I love. (Please excuse the derpy photos, I clearly don't have a selfie game)




I will echo what others said in that it is a very light bag. The chains are beautiful, but the leather strip is very thin and they don't feel very substantial. The leather does for sure feel more soft and squishy (and thinner) than a classic, but that's also fairly typical of seasonal pieces. It is definitely a bag I'd try to get an insert for. It does feel a little more boxy than a classic because I think it's slightly wider and more rectangular, but it's not as boxy as a boy (which doesn't fall well on me).

I do absolutely love it though, and for what it is, feel $4100 is an excellent price. (And I checked-- all the grommets on this particular bag are the right way up!)

It looks really good on you! And this navy color is indeed beautiful And you're right, the gold hardware fits here... It comes also in white with gold hardware, but that doesn't fit that good because I prefer white with silver or light gold hardware, not aged gold, but like I said, with the navy it's nice!

I was lucky enough to get one but the strap drop is just too short for me to wear crossbody and now its past the return window. Ugh, maybe I can lengthen it some how.
