All of the contradictory statements I've heard are a bit bewildering and they don't establish trust or goodwill amongst loyal, long established clients.

Totally agree. So many make it an unpleasant experience in the past few years.

FWIW, I've heard from two different SA's (one at a Chanel leased NM and the other at a stand alone Chanel boutique) that there's no sale this summer in the US (or at their stores). I'm not a VIP so who knows if this is the truth, though!

I live in SouthEast Asia and from the trend of the past 2 years (covid), my local Chanel boutiques are normally the last to do the markdown.
To my surprise, my SA invited me down for a preview on Friday. Slots seem limited (since i am not VVIP enough), had to wrangle for a late afternoon slot. The stocks were all the way from 20S.. which i am surprised.. some old stocks that i've already seen at the last Jul markdown..

2 weekends ago, i was travelling back from Thailand. There is a Chanel boutique at the airport. Walked in and saw this jacket dress from 20S which again, i thought went on sale and oos last sale. It was in my size.. so of cos i had to get it. Didnt think i would even have a chance with this beauty.

I would get in contact with an SA. Looks like still a week or two out but prior to establishing good relationships with a few, I had walked into the store and had an SA tell me there was no sale while I could literally see the sale items pulled and on a display to the side - when questioned they said, “oh there’s nothing good” … sometimes sale season is fun, others it’s a struggle lol but worth it when you snag something good!

I came across Dior sale items just like how you saw sale Chanel items being set aside and the Dior employee denied a sale was coming up. It's annoying to be lied to. Just say merchandise is being put aside for top tier customers to shop first. I was sitting in Bergdorf's women's designer shoe department when an employee was starting to mark down CL I was able to try on various sale shoes in different sizes because I was very early at the markdowns.
